Binh Duong develops modern TOD traffic program

Building a smart city does not take the conventional approach of applying advanced technology to solve specific social problems. Instead, Binh Duong builds a dynamic, creative, and connected ecosystem. In particular, Binh Duong is developing a modern TOD traffic approach (urban development that takes public transport development as the basis for development planning, taking traffic hubs as population concentration points to further form a decentralized traffic system), opening up space for urban development, improving the quality of people's lives.

Binh Duong will develop BRT bus routes to serve the TOD expansion.

TOD is associated with the development of modern urban chains

Binh Duong is one of the pioneering localities in developing smart cities. In planning and development, the province is implementing the "Smart City Project - Binh Duong", with the goal of promoting cooperation between local authorities, businesses, institutes, schools and international cooperation. So far, Binh Duong has finished and implemented the GIS (geographic information system) for the entire province, enabling the updating and retrieval of planning information and technical infrastructure in an interconnected system. They have also introduced several smart services to enhance the quality of life for the residents.

Binh Duong is directing resources towards investing in important regional transport projects. Simultaneously, they are advancing the construction of an urban railway (metro) as part of the Binh Duong province public transport infrastructure improvement project (BRT). This initiative is being funded through official development assistance (ODA) loans from the Japanese Government. Japan will also support the province in researching the development of a light rail line (LRT) to connect TODs within the province...

Binh Duong integrates the Smart City Project for the 2021-2025 period with a new breakthrough strategy, focusing on planning the "Innovation Region" in a five-layer model, including: Urban and transport planning; building a culture of innovation; balanced economic development; digital transformation and industry 4.0; developing and attracting human resources. The development of a smart transport system is crucial for enhancing the transport infrastructure, particularly external transportation connections to ensure smooth synchronization with various regions and areas. This is seen as a key driver in promoting industrialization, urbanization, and sustainable socio-economic development.

Accordingly, Binh Duong applies the TOD policy - urban development based on public transport hubs, aiming to develop urban chains associated with the construction of BRT bus routes and regional traffic connections.

Binh Duong and Ho Chi Minh City agree to develop Metro Line No. 1 Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien, connecting to the center of Binh Duong's new city, with a length of 34km.

Contribute to reducing urban traffic pressure

Binh Duong province's planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, has been approved by the Prime Minister. Binh Duong is concentrating resources on investing in the construction, upgrading, and expansion, gradually alleviating traffic congestion on key routes, and generating momentum for the province's socio-economic development. The province's TOD model will also be linked to urban railway lines connecting Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, and Ring Roads 3, 4, etc., in the future.

With National Highway 13 being upgraded and expanded, travel between Binh Duong and Ho Chi Minh City will be more convenient and save a lot of time. In addition, the TOD model of the metro line connecting Binh Duong with Ho Chi Minh City will help develop the urban space between the two areas. The preparation for developing BRT bus routes will effectively serve the metro line, creating convenience for people to participate in this type of transportation in the future. Modern TOD model will contribute to reducing urban traffic pressure in the future.

Binh Duong is prioritizing resources to initiate and complete several important transportation projects. The focus is on investing resources in smart transportation, which involves the application and integration of modern technologies and management strategies into the urban transportation system. This will provide innovative transportation methods and services for traffic management. TOD will be an urban development model associated with Binh Duong's smart transport system connecting with the provinces and cities of the Southeast region, contributing to the socio-economic development of the entire region.

According to the National Master Plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, Binh Duong belongs to the Southern dynamic region. Namely, Binh Duong will strongly develop an innovation ecosystem, take the lead in transforming the growth approach, build a digital economy and digital society, strongly develop financial, banking, science, technology, and logistics services, and attract investment in high-tech industries, software parks, and artificial intelligence. In addition, Binh Duong will develop a green space network following the urban garden model, with a water surface structure connecting with urban spaces, industrial parks, and urban centers; develop green areas to create a green ecosystem throughout the province. The province will also form a chain of service urban areas following the TOD type associated with railway projects Di An - Loc Ninh, Suoi Tien - Thu Dau Mot - Bau Bang...
