Binh Duong firmly enters the new era

Hero in the resistance 

During the two wars of national liberation and reunification, Thu Dau Mot - Binh Duong was one of the fiercest key areas of the Southeast region, an area with an important strategic position in terms of politics, military and economy. This place is the springboard base to attack Saigon from the North, connecting with the Southern Central Highlands and is a bridge to the Mekong Delta. This is also a large, continuous base area of revolutionary forces in the resistance war against French colonialism and American imperialism, such as: War Zone D, Long Nguyen War Zone, Thuan An Hoa War Zone, Vinh Loi War Zone...

During the 1975 Spring General Offensive and Uprising with the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, with a strong will, indomitable spirit, and strong belief in the Party's leadership and the cause of national reunification, the army and people of Binh Duong, under the leadership of the Provincial Party Committee, fought bravely and won, achieving many resounding victories, adding to the glorious tradition, forever recorded in history as indelible marks. Those feats contributed to breaking and destroying the will to invade of the American empire, changing the situation on the battlefield.

In the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, the army and people in the province rose up to completely defeat the puppet army, smash the puppet government apparatus, liberate the homeland; contribute to opening the way for our main army corps to attack the north of Saigon from Binh Duong, successfully ending the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, completely liberating the South, unifying the country, ending 21 years of resistance war against the US and 30 years of national liberation struggle. With great contributions to the resistance war against the US to save the country, the Party Committee, army and people of Thu Dau Mot - Binh Duong were honored to be awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and State in 1976... 

Miracles in construction and development

Promoting revolutionary heroism and the spirit of determination to fight and win in the Great Victory of Spring 1975, the Party Committee, government, and people of Binh Duong have, over the past fifty years, overcome numerous difficulties and challenges. They have actively pursued the renovation initiated and led by our Party, achieving many significant and historic milestones. Notably, after 28 years of construction and development, Binh Duong has made remarkable progress in socio-economic development. The economy is advancing rapidly toward industrialization and modernization.

In 2024, despite many challenges due to the impact of the global economic and political situation, the province still achieved positive results in socio-economic development and national defense and security. GRDP growth rate reached 7.48%, higher than the national average and the Southeast region; total budget revenue reached 71,234 billion VND; GRDP per capita reached 181.2 million VND, higher than the national average (123 million VND); foreign direct investment attraction reached 2.2 billion USD; total social development investment capital reached 162 trillion VND; economic structure shifted in the right direction; trade - service, import-export activities continued to grow; the environment for attracting domestic and foreign investment continued to improve; The provincial planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister, is the foundation for Binh Duong's acceleration and breakthrough development in the new period.

Together with the whole country, we strive in the new era 

Building on the achievements made since the liberation day and nearly 30 years of development under the Party's innovation policy, Binh Duong has emerged as one of the fastest-growing industrial areas in the region and the entire country. This progress provides a strong foundation for the province to pursue even higher goals, with the aim of making Binh Duong increasingly prosperous, civilized, and intelligent. 

In this context, the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term states: "... We strive to develop Binh Duong sustainably, transforming it into a smart, civilized, and modern urban area. By 2030, Binh Duong aims to become a modern industrial center, and by 2045, a smart city recognized both regionally and nationally."

To successfully achieve its goals, Binh Duong is currently concentrating on the effective implementation of the Binh Duong Provincial Planning for the period of 2021-2030, with a vision extending to 2050; the Project to establish a Free Trade Zone in line with provincial planning guidelines, focusing on developing high-tech industrial parks and concentrated information technology parks, as well as creating a Science and Technology Park. These efforts are aimed at fostering innovation and driving comprehensive development across all sectors.

The province is also working urgently to complete the Project for mobilizing resources and preparing the pre-feasibility study for the Suoi Tien - Binh Duong New City urban railway, as well as the Bau Bang - Di An railway and the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Project that connects the province's transit-oriented development (TOD) areas.

In addition to allocating sufficient capital for ongoing projects, Binh Duong will prioritize investment in key projects such as Ring Road 3 and Ring Road 4 through the province, alongside the Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh expressway; complete the upgrade and expansion of National Highway 13 and will continue developing the Saigon River road from Thu Dau Mot to Thuan An, connecting to Ho Chi Minh City. 

Particularly, the province is prioritizing investment in regional transportation systems including roads, railways, waterways, overpasses, and intersections to ensure smooth connections with Ho Chi Minh City as well as with international seaports and airports. This focus aims to create significant economic development breakthroughs in the near future. 

At the same time, Party committees at all levels, along with local authorities, the Fatherland Front, and socio-political organizations, are actively disseminating and implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024, from the Politburo. This resolution emphasizes breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, and national digital transformation. The province prioritizes this task to create a unifying force that promotes the development of every sector in 2025 and the following years.

With deep faith in the Party's leadership and a tradition of resilience, creativity, and solidarity, Binh Duong is committed to overcoming challenges and achieving new heights. The political system, along with the people and the business community, is expected to work together to navigate difficulties and drive the province toward faster, more comprehensive, and sustainable development, aligning with the nation’s advancement in the coming era.
