In the process of transforming into a new generation of industrial parks (IPs) that meet green standards and utilize clean, efficient energy, Binh Duong province has continued moving forward with the construction of Cay Truong Ecological IP, covering a total area of 700 hectares. The park is expected to create a modern production space that prioritizes environmental protection through systems using clean and renewable energy and technologies that allow for water reuse from the production process. This contributes to realizing the Government’s commitments towards carbon neutrality and environmental sustainability.
The first ecological IP in Vietnam
On May 17, the groundbreaking ceremony for Cay Truong IP was officially held in Binh Duong province’s Bau Bang district. With investment capital exceeding VND 5,459 billion and spanning 700 hectares, the park is designed to become the first international-standard green and ecological industrial park in Vietnam. The development focuses on four major breakthrough directions, with priority given to attracting high-tech and environmentally friendly industries. The project aims at promoting the efficient use of natural resources and energy, minimize waste and carbon emissions, foster industrial symbiosis, ensure sustainable development. Once operational, Cay Truong IP is expected to provide employment opportunities for approximately 35,000 workers.

Simultaneously, Bau Bang IP in the phase 2 is being expanded by 380 hectares of clean land adjacent to the existing IPs. This is also an "upgraded" industrial park project implemented by Becamex IDC, featuring synchronized and modern infrastructure, being ready to serve large-scale industrial manufacturing investors. Notably, the 250,000m² joint-venture factory complex developed by BWID is a key highlight. It represents the close collaboration between Becamex IDC and international partners, providing modern production spaces that meet the growing demands of investors. The groundbreaking of an additional 1 million square meters of ready-built factories by BWID is expected to meet the future demands of businesses and investors seeking to establish operations in the area.
Vo Van Minh, Vice Secretary of provincial Party Committee and Chairman of provincial People's Committee emphasized that Becamex brand has made significant contributions to the socio-economic development of Binh Duong and many other provinces and cities across the country. From an initial project in Binh Duong, Becamex – VSIP has grown into a chain of over 20 industrial, service and urban development projects spanning from the North to South of Vietnam. These projects have created an open and dynamic investment environment, attracting numerous leading domestic and international investors. With modern, internationally standardized infrastructure and the ability to meet labor demands, they effectively support the operational needs of investors across regions.
“In response to increasingly stringent market demands and in the search for new growth drivers to overcome the middle-income trap, Binh Duong has been reshaping its development model through major strategic directions such as transforming the industrial development approach, upgrading existing industrial parks, developing new green, ecological and smart industrial parks equipped with Industry 4.0 technologies such as IoT, Big Data and more”, said Mr. Minh.
A turning point for industrial development
Dr. Dang Quang Vinh, Senior Economist for Economic Development at the World Bank stated that the establishment and development of eco-industrial parks is a new trend in industrial development in association with sustainable growth. He highly appreciated the potential and strategic direction for eco-industrial park development and strategic partnership in Binh Duong province. Dr. Vinh also expressed confidence that Cay Truong Eco-IP will open a new chapter in the advancement of green industry.

Dr. Vinh also noted that the establishment of this park marks a significant turning point in Vietnam’s industrial development, helping the country work towards international certification systems such as the EDGE green building standard and other globally recognized green building credentials. “In the coming time, the World Bank will not only provide financial support and technical solutions, but also act as a key connector between businesses and investors interested in developing green industrial ecosystems. The World Bank is committed to continuing its support for Vietnam as well as its partner Becamex IDC, in upgrading industrial parks, promoting green transformation and advancing sustainable development”, shared Dr. Dang Quang Vinh.
Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh has spoken highly of Binh Duong and Becamex IDC for their pioneering efforts in transforming and establishing two new-generation IPs. He recognized Becamex IDC as a leader in the strategy to develop green IPs that aim for net-zero emissions, contributing to Vietnam’s goal of sustainable and green economic development. He expressed his belief that with its experience and strengths, Becamex IDC would continue providing modern production spaces, especially those powered by green and clean energy, thereby helping the country realize its commitment to carbon neutrality by 2050. He noted that Cay Truong Ecological IP is certain to become a destination that attracts investors in high technology, green economy and digital transformation.
Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh also emphasized that Binh Duong has long held a leading position nationwide in terms of socio-economic development, particularly in industrial growth and investment attraction. The groundbreaking of Cay Truong IP is not only a major milestone in the province’s development strategy, but also vivid proof of its forward-looking vision. It demonstrates the leadership of both Binh Duong and Becamex IDC in transitioning from traditional industrial models to ecological, smart and sustainable development. |
Vo Van Minh, Vice Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee stated that with the establishment of the Cay Truong Ecological IP and the expansion of the Bau Bang IP in the phase 2, the area will become a symbol of smart and green industrial development. These IPs will be integrated with digital technology and renewable energy systems. Furthermore, a 15.47-hectare centralized Information Technology Park will be developed to create a favorable investment environment, attracting both capital and technology from domestic and international sources. These are strategic steps for Binh Duong province to move up the global industrial value chain, aiming to build a new ecosystem that complements the existing one while fully meeting the evolving needs of both domestic and international investors and workers in this era of deep and comprehensive global integration. |
