Binh Duong Furniture Association upholds united and integration tradition to fly away

From the tradition of “Respect teachers, respect morality”

On the lunar December 20, those who following carpentering industry will memorize contributions of enlighteners and keep morality and virtue to enjoy support from ancestors. Legend has it that ancestor of carpenter industry was Nguyen Cong Nghe living on wood carving in the dynasty of Trinh – Nguyen. In addition, he was also the author of the Buddha statue with a thousand hands and a thousand eyes.

Meanwhile, according to Bifa, wood carving’s ancestor was Ninh Huu Hung born in La Xuyen village, Y Yen district, Nam Dinh province in 936 and died in 1019. He was a General, who was in charge of the construction of Hoa Lu (ancient capital of Vietnam). In Vietnam, he is considered the founder of the carpentry and wood carving.

In the recent years, especially since Bifa has been set up and put into operation, on Luner Dec. 20, members of Bifa solemnly hold the death anniversary of the founder of the carpentry and wood carving, Ninh Huu Hung in a bid to memorize his contributions.

Bifa chairman Huynh Quang Thanh said “the death anniversary is very holy, so the association must hold the anniversary firstly after that the membership businesses will organize the anniversary at their units”.

To power of solidarity

Participating in music team in service for the death anniversary, Do Thi Kim Loan, vice chairwoman of Bifa recalled “In 2007, the provincial administration allowed to set up a furniture association and chose some prestigious and enthusiastic reps to join in the mobilization board. In Sept. 2009, the Bifa was officially set up amid difficulties of economic recession. In order to protect local production, many technical barriers were created to minimize import surplus. With less one year old, Bifa brought its voice to the Government Prime Minister, the Finance Ministry and so on to ask for not to impose taxes on imported wood materials. With the Bifa’s concrete proofs, the PM and Finance Ministry approved the suggestion”.

Huynh Quang Thanh, chairman of Bifa stressed “Bifa’s goal is to bring interests to the community so all have to work for the common interest”. Concluding the first term, Bifa accumulated many valued experiences. Entering the new term, Bifa has brought members many new chances of organizing training classes for laborers, launching legal regulations to laborers, ensuring safety in fire and explosion control and raising awareness on fighting and preventing fire and explosion. Especially, Bifa has taken advantage of assistance of the United Nations to improve competitive ability for small and medium enterprises, reduce expenses of production and so on.

From the mentioned useful deeds, Bifa has become a common house for membership businesses to dedicate to the local wood processing industry’s growth.

Rising up for integration

In the past year, despite economic recession, the provincial wood export turnover remained at US$1,540mil, a 1.5 time increase from the same period last year and accounting for 11% of the local export revenue.

According to the local department of Trade and Industry’s forecast, 2014’s wood export turnover will gain a fair growth, owing to the large number of orders from big markets such as the US, the EU, Japan and many more. In addition, many big contracts will be transferred from some other nations to Vietnam and ASEAN nations. Meanwhile, stability in labor situation and lending interest rate will facilitate businesses’ production.

Huynh Quang Thanh explained “In 2014, the number of orders will increase but price will not rise along. This means businesses will face concrete challenges of production ability, product’s quality, delivery condition and many more. Facing the status, businesses must choose competition or evasion”.

The chairman also shared “International integration is both easy and difficult. Difficulty lies in accepting rules whilst easiness lies in meeting the initial barriers. For instance, Japanese clients set out high requirements and we should make the effort to meet these high requirements for the sake of integration”.
