In recent years, besides socio-economic developing tasks, Binh Duong province has also shown a high responsible sense towards environmental protection, improving life quality of the community, with special attention to quality of water sources for production and living needs of people and businesses.

The project of rural water supply plant is managed and operated by Irrigation and Clean Water, Environment Investment in Exploitation Center under Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
To focus on protecting water sources
Experts claimed that clean water and environmental protection were a prerequisite for protecting health, improving people's living conditions, contributing to sustainable development of the country. Therefore, the protection of water resources and the environment in parallel with socio-economic growth is a vital issue, a task, and a right of the whole people.
In Binh Duong, based on ODA fund and investment plans in stages, the province focused on developing clean water supply plants in parallel with wastewater and domestic waste collection and treatment systems with modern technologies, forming organic ecosystems in industrial and urban development. Currently, water supply plants in the province have reached a water supply capacity of 450,000m3 / day and night. These plants are directly connected to the network and are operated by Scada technology to ensure proactive, no clogging, no dehydration, no power outages or technical incidents... Domestic water is collected by a closed pipeline to treatment plants meeting column-A standards of Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment before discharging into the natural environment.
The first wastewater treatment plant in the province in Thu Dau Mot City has a collection capacity of 17,000m3 / day and night, the collection system has reached the design capacity after 4 years, and is continuing to expand phase 2. Following Thu Dau Mot wastewater treatment plant, other localities in the province have also completed and put into operation domestic wastewater treatment plants such as Thuan An Town, Di An Town, Tan Uyen Town... with the same capacity.
Narrowing the rural-urban gap
Nguyen Thuy Duong, Deputy Director of Irrigation and Clean Water, Environment Investment in Exploitation Center, said that in order for all people to gain access to and enjoy benefits from the province's socio-economic development, from 2010 to now, the center had invested in 32 rural clean water projects in 31 communes in 4 districts and one town in the province; each project had an average capacity of 1,000m3 / day and night; total capacity of 28,516m3 / day and night, serving 94,422 households in these communes, reaching 32.67%.
Currently, the province has 2 units of clean water management, operation, exploitation and supply for rural areas, including Irrigation and Clean Water, Environment Investment in Exploitation Center - is responsible for providing clean water for remote areas; and Binh Duong Water - Environment Joint Stock Company - provides clean water for urban residents, industrial production, and expands the system to rural communes. At present, the rate of rural households in the province having clean water and hygienic water is 99%; the rate of households using hygienic latrines reaches 97%; the rate of farms with waste treatment is 88%.
In recent years, not only in urban areas, but also rural communes in the province have enhanced the movement of building a cultural life in residential areas in combination with the construction of a garbage-free roads, hamlets, contributing to raise awareness of environmental protection in the community.
Binh Duong Waste Treatment Complex (Chanh Phu Hoa Ward, Ben Cat Town) receives 1,500-1,700 tons of domestic waste every day. Garbage when entering the treatment complex is mixed with chemicals, causing yeast to recover biogas for power generation, heat generation, fertilizer production lines, and construction materials. Then waste humus is transferred to treatment area to produce composites with a capacity of 450 tons / day. At the same time, screening and classification machines in the chain will recover non-biodegradable impurities, such as stone, sand, and many types of recyclable impurities such as nylon, plastic, iron, steel, paper, packaging ... to recycle and produce many other useful materials.
Nguyen Van Thien, Chairman of Directors Board of Binh Duong Water - Environment Joint Stock Company - the unit assigned to provide clean water and waste collection and treatment by provincial leadership, said to turn waste into resources, it needed a synchronous treatment system, because urban waste was increasing. If the chain of waste treatment system is not synchronized, it will lead to accumulations of waste, creating an environmental disaster; in case of synchronous lines, recycled products, produced from waste that cannot be consumed, also lead to difficulties in operations of the unit. Therefore, effective and efficient water supply and drainage, waste treatment and waste collection activities are contributing to actively building Binh Duong smart, clean, beautiful, friendly and modern city.
