Along with many other socio-economic achievements, Binh Duong has gained a great success in FDI attraction in 2012. Noticeably, Binh Duong absorbed many large-scale projects from Japanese investors over the past nine months. This shows that Binh Duong has a lot of advantages to attract a new investment wave from Japan.
Binh Duong attractive to Japanese investors
According to statistics from provincial People’s Committee, many Japanese investors have made investment in Binh Duong in 2012.
Among the largest Japanese-invested projects registered in the province were the Tokyu Binh Duong Urban Area Project worth $1.2 billion, the US$35mln-factory producing laminate film and printing and packaging materials by Dai Nippon Printing (DNP), the Aeon Binh Duong Canary of Aeon Corporation worth US$95 mln…

To date, Binh Duong has lured 167 Japanese-invested projects with a total investment capital of more than US$3.1bln, accounting for more than18% of the province’s total FDI capital.
Regarding Binh Duong’s investment climate, Mitsuhiro Mori, Chairman of Japanese Business Association in Ho Chi Minh City has spoken highly of the efforts by Binh Duong’s leaders in creating favorable conditions for Japanese investors’ development herein, contributing to tightening relations between the two countries.
In his recent visit to Binh Duong, Wada Kisaburo, Chairman of Sakai Trade promotion Association has also appreciated the success achieved by Binh Duong in the past time. He also said that his association will enhance meetings between Binh Duong enterprises with Japanese investors aiming to strength the cooperation, trade promotion in the coming time.
In fact, province-based Japanese enterprises have operated very effectively and well realized Vietnam’s policies. This has been highly appreciated by Le Thanh Cung, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee.
It is known that Binh Duong is paying attention to investing in technical infrastructure, taking good care of laborers’ lives, training hi-quality human resources…in a bid to welcome a new investment wave. These efforts will help foreign investors in general and Japanese ones in particular uphold their investment efficiency in Binh Duong.
Interested in Binh Duong new city
Binh Duong new city has recently become the most attractive destination for Japanese investors. Toshiaki Koshimuar, Chairman of the Japanese Tokyu Group said that his group decided to select Binh Duong new city for investment, due to its development potentials.
The US$1.2 billion Tokyu Binh Duong Garden City, the province's biggest urban project and the biggest FDI project, began construction in March 2012. It is invested by the Becamex Tokyu Co., Ltd - a joint venture between the Becamex IDC and the Tokyu Group (Japan). The 71.5 hectare project will feature 7,500 apartments plus entertainment areas, shopping centers and offices. Tokyu Binh Duong Garden City was also designed to become an ideal place for businesses to operate in a new environment with modern infrastructure.
A delegation of the Japan Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, led by Minister Yuichiro Hata, visited and had a working session with leaders of Binh Duong on Oct. 10.
During the visit, Minister Yuichiro Ha Ta spoke highly of Binh Duong’s development, especially in infrastructure investment and realized that Binh Duong new city is a satellite of HCM city, with capacity of successfully developing in the future. He also said the Japanese government supports the Tokyu urban area and asked local authorities to facilitate the implementation of the project as well as others.
Japan has planned to develop a large-scale urban area in Vietnam and decided to choose Binh Duong as the place for the start of the project, he added.
The minister also said that his ministry will create favorable conditions for Japanese companies to invest in Vietnam in general and in Binh Duong in particular.
Possibly speaking, many Japanese groups have still further selected Binh Duong for investment amid investment attraction facing difficulties, due to the global economic downturn. This shows that Binh Duong is always an attractive destination for investors from Japan.
