On September 13, a delegation of Binh Duong province, led by Nguyen Hoang Thao, Permanent Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee had a working session with the Cuban Chamber of Commerce (CCC) in Havana capital.

At the working session, Mr. Thao gave an overview of the local socio-economic development while sharing difficulties with Cuba. He said that Binh Duong was a poor province preciously, but after 25 years of re-establishment, Binh Duong is now one of Vietnam’s leading economic engines. He expressed his belief that Cuba will also reap many achievements in the process of implementing a policy of updating the socio-economic model, boldly innovating, expanding bilateral and multilateral relations, attracting many investors, expanding many economic sectors, with State economy still playing a key role.
Through the working session with the Cuban Chamber of Commerce, provincial leaders introduced investment opportunities and potentials in Binh Duong province. Mr. Thao wanted Cuban enterprises to invest in Cuba's advantageous fields, including healthcare, biological application, production of household appliances, furniture, and garment, footwear, pottery products …
The CCC Chairman Antonio Luis Carricarte Corona highly appreciated the practicality and usefulness of the working session, helping the two sides initially identify potential cooperation fields, laying the foundation for an extensive cooperation relationship in the future. The CCC has the task of promoting foreign cooperation; helping micro, small and medium-sized enterprises while connecting support to promote local development. Cuba is very eager to learn from Binh Duong province's cooperation models with Singapore, the Netherlands, China and Japan to develop Mariel special economic zone, the first and only special economic zone on this island nation as of now.
On the same day, the delegation also visited and worked with the directorate of Hermanos Ameijeiras Hospital in Havana.
