Binh Duong rural industries have long had distinctive characters creating quintessence for a traditional land. In the face of the market rules, Binh Duong rural industries have faced a harsh competition.
Difficulties
Binh Duong rural industries have existed for a long time, some of them have made famous trademarks, bringing high income for laborers and placing jobs for thousands of laborers.
Rural industries need cooperation from many sides.
Craft villages of Thuan An ceramics, Tan Phuoc Khanh ceramics, Tuong Binh Hiep lacquer are Binh Duong’s typical traditional craft villages. However, some rural industries have been under the risk of oblivion, owing to harsh competition. Many households have changed to other production industries to enjoy a higher income. Besides, owing to shortage of materials and price hike, craft villages have lost initiatives in production.
As statistics, in the end of 2010, the province had 32 craft villages, 9 of which were traditional industries of carpenter, lacquer, sculpture, ceramics, bamboo articles, wooden shoes, piggy bank, girdle cake… These craft villages had 45,755 productive workshops with over 103,000 laborers enjoying an average income of VND750,000-VND2,640mil per month. The craft villages’ turnover was over VND4tril with an export turnover of over US$72mil. The local craft villages have mainly focused at Thuan An, Di An, Thu Dau Mot, Ben Cat and Tan Uyen.
Renovation for development
The Government issued a Decree 66/2006/ND-CP to facilitate rural industries’ development whilst the local administration delivered incentive policies to develop these industries. Based on real demand, production development in combination with tourism to craft villages has showed significant efficiency.
The local traditional industries will be divided into 3 groups for planning and development. The local leaders set out some measures to protect and develop these craft villages. The measures include technical transfer, product marketing, capital assistance and so on.
However, to make a breakthrough for local rural industries in the coming time, it is necessary to have cooperation between all level agencies and laborers to create valued products…
