At some other markets, namely Bung, Thai Thieu…, the price of various vegetables and fruits is VND2,000-VND3,000 per kg higher than those sold at wholesales markets in the province.
Since July, according to provincial Department of Finance, the price of essential consumer commodities has remained stable. Thanks to having an abundant supply plus the timely instruction of the central and local authorities and the efforts by enterprises, there was no fluctuation on price for essential commodities during the last April 30 and May 1 holiday.
Purchasing power
After the joyful summer vacation, pupils at all levels have started a new academic year, so province-based supermarkets, namely Vinatex, Co.opMart, Metro…, have seen an increase in purchasing power.
A representative of Thu Dau Mot city-based Big C supermarket said that the supermarket’s purchasing power has increased slightly over the past three weeks. It is expected to reach a strong growth in the following weeks, especially on the upcoming September 2 holiday.
According to statistics by provincial Department of Industry and Trade, the province’s total retail sales revenue of commodities and services in July was estimated at more than VND8.1trillion, up 0.9% compared to the previous month. In the first seven months of the year, the figure reached more than VND59.1trillion, up 18.6% compared to the corresponding period of 2013.
As surveyed, purchasing power in the domestic market is being improved in many other localities nationwide. The CPI in August will increase slightly.
