Biwase put into operatiọn of 5MW waste-incineration generator

On the morning of January 12, at the Binh Duong Waste Treatment Complex in Ben Cat town, Binh Duong Water and Environment Joint Stock Company (Biwase) held a ceremony to inaugurate the 5MW waste-to-energy plant and increase the capacity of waste classification, recycling, and treatment to 2,520 tons per day.

Distinguished attendees at the ceremony included former Politburo member and former President Nguyen Minh Triet, General Le Hong Anh, former Politburo member and former Standing Secretary of the Party Central Committee, leaders of several central agencies, ministries, and sectors. As for Binh Duong attending counterpartners, Mr. Nguyen Van Loi, a member of the Central CPV Committee, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, Mr. Nguyen Van Loc, a member of the Standing Committee of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People's Council, Mr. Mai Hung Dung, a member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Deputy Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, Mrs. Nguyen Thi My Hang, Chairwoman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, former provincial leaders of all times resided.

In his speech at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Chien Cong, CEO of Biwase, announced that the project aims to increase the capacity of waste classification and treatment from 2,350 tons to 2,520 tons per day. This includes the treatment and recycling of waste into organic fertilizer at a rate of 840 tons per day, as well as the incineration of waste with combined power generation capacity of 200 tons per day and electricity generation capacity of 5MW.

In the initial phase, the power source will be self-consumed within the plant, following a cyclical process. According to calculations, the energy generated from the two power generators utilizing methane gas and heat from the incinerator will meet approximately 80% of the electricity demand for production activities at the Binh Duong Waste Treatment Complex. During the trial operation phase, the waste-to-energy plant has successfully produced 1 million kWh.

The waste-to-energy project is a manifestation of Biwase's determination to maximize the utilization of energy sources for regeneration and reuse in the production process. The project not only brings economic benefits but also contributes to Binh Duong province's pursuit of green growth and sustainable development, in line with environmental protection efforts and the province's goals for green growth and sustainable development.

In his speech at the inauguration ceremony, on behalf of the leadership of Binh Duong province, Mr. Mai Hung Dung praised and highly appreciated the significance of Biwase's operation of the waste incineration plant and the increase in capacity to receive, process, and recycle waste up to 2,520 tons. Mr. Mai Hung Dung affirmed that this is the goal set by the province in terms of collecting, processing, and recycling 100% of waste in the area, contributing to the objective of green growth and sustainable development.
