In recent years, Binh Duong Province has emerged as a model locality of investment luring nationwide with strongly developed social economy and daily transformation people’s lives. The achievements were thanks to the unity of the political system under leadership and command of Provincial Party Committee and local authorities to bring the province to outstanding development and outreach thanks to the breakthroughs.
Magical development
Binh Duong Province has been transformed like a miracle which has been highly appreciated by neighbor provinces and cities, central government, and international nations, proved by the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth of 13% a year from 2011 to 2015. In 1997, Binh Duong Province was still a province of poverty; however, by the end of 2015, the province has gained economic structure of industry-services-agriculture at 60%-37.3%-2.7% accordingly. GDP per capita has exceeded the year estimation to VND 73.1 million a year by the end of 2015. From 2011 to 2015, exportation has been maintained at high growth of averagely 19.5%, importation 16.9%. The infrastructure has been modernly invested into. Social welfare has been thoroughly taken care of, especially for the benefits of nation contributors. Public healthcare has been enhanced. Activities of culture, information and sports have advanced to more quality; national defense, security, and orders have been maintained.

The miracle development of Binh Duong Province derived from the independence of heroic land, winning impressive numbers: 2,500 foreign investment projects of US$ 21.5 billion in investment capital as the top investment luring location in the nation. By the end of 2015, industrial production value of the province reached VND 217,211 billion, increased by 68 times higher than in 1997; exportation growth has been maintained with trade surplus of over US$ 3.7 billion; budget collection is estimated to gain VND 36,000 billion, increasing by 4 times higher than in 1997. The results have affirmed well leadership of Binh Duong Provincial Party Committee for utilizing general power of the political system and agreements of enterprise community and the people in the province. Aside from being located in the major economic zone of the South, neighboring Ho Chi Minh City – a civilized and modern city, Binh Duong Province has been under good planning and effective regulations of operation and daring investments into major projects of the province regarding traffic and regional urban planning.
Tran Thanh Liem, the Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee cum Chair of Provincial People’s Committee asserted that by the programs of breakthroughs, Binh Duong Province affirms its role and standing-out advantages against other cities and provinces regarding their infrastructure and urban development.
The major infra-constructions and projects have connected to developing centers of the province and the whole major economic zone of the South. Those constructions have promoted socio-economic and urban development of the province. Prominently, the Administrative Center inaugurated in February 2014 was the expressive determination of the political system in administrative reforms to satisfy the growing demands of the economy. Other constructions including the lake, sport center, Eastern International University, International Conference and Exhibition Center, premium apartment blocks, villas, street-side apartments, commercial centers, the high-tech zone of Mapletree (Singapore), etc. have featured the central urban area of Thu Dau Mot City and Binh Duong Province.
To the new heights
Tran Thanh Liem affirmed that the efforts throughout 19 years of re-establishment of Binh Duong Province have paid off by the significant achievements in all fields with relatively high economic growth and widened integration into international economies to become an actively developing province in Dong Nam Bo Region and nationwide. Development orientation until 2020 as proposed by local Party Committee, authority, and the people is to build up a civilized, modern, sentimental, and worth living city of type I under central governance before 2020. The target drew up a lively picture that local people are expecting. Those are also the results of reality experience in the general development trend of the nation while expressing the motto of being close to the public and for the rightful benefits of the people.
To pursue the target, the province for the time to come will focus on major measures of reviewing and gathering investments into constructions assuring urban upgrade to become standardized urban area of type I under central governance before 2020. Binh Duong Province will be constructed with green zones and 3 regions of central urban area (Thu Dau Mot City, Nam Tan Uyen, Ben Cat Town), Southern urban area (Thuan An Town, Di An Town), and Northern urban area (Dau Tieng, Phu Giao, Bau Bang, Bac Tan Uyen), synchronous combination of central urban system and satellite areas, towns, ward and commune centers. Traffic infrastructure has been synchronously constructed to promote development with major breakthroughs combining urban centers connecting to transportation system of major economic zone of the South. Social infrastructure development has been concentrated on to ensure social welfare. Quality of human resources servicing industrialization and modernization for development of the province in the new stage will be improved.

With determination for further outreach, Binh Duong Province, for the time to come, will continue to promote the advantages and make use of the internal and external forces to develop and construct Binh Duong Province as an urban area of modernity and prosperity. Resolution and measures will be promoted to remove obstacles and improve investment environment with promotion of production, business, and competitiveness index of the province. Agriculture development is to be concentrated and oriented to the needs of urban development. Besides, material and spiritual lives will be improved to ensure that every working people in Binh Duong Province would be beneficial of the achievements brought about by Binh Duong Province to be worthy as a city of modernity, beauty, and sentiment. Besides, the province will intensify measures to ensure effectiveness of management of natural resources and environment protection. Projects causing environment pollution will be denied. Economic construction and development are to be combined with reinforcement and enhance of national defense and security to maintain social order and safety in the province.
