Bringing joy for workers

 

In the next few days, employees in Binh Duong province will get new salary levels according to the Cabinet’s Decree 103/2014/CD-CP. Salary increases on the occasion of Lunar New Year has brought joy to employees. Businesses have also been proactive to prepare for this change…

Employees are both happy and worried

Through the mass media, most employees in Binh Duong province have been informed about salary increases from 1-1-2015. Worker Le Thi Nhan of Sung Hyun Vina Company in Binh Duong industrial park, Di An town said, all workers are eagerly awaiting salary increases, which can help workers to have a little bit better life.

Ms. Ngo Thi Lan has to bring up her child alone. Thus apart from being a worker of Thong Dung Footwear Company in An Phu ward, Thuan An town, she tailors clothes at home to earn money. Thanks to the new regulation, her monthly income will increase VND350,000 compared to the old wage. To her family, this is not a small amount.

However, employees are anxious about price increase. Previously, whenever salary had not increased yet, prices started to went up, which made salary increases no sense. Worker T.T.N in Binh Giao quarter, Thuan Giao ward, Thuan An town said, annual salary increases were accompanied by rent price increases of lodging room, electricity bill, water bill, even foodstuff prices. “We expect jurisdictional agencies to prevent this situation to protect workers’ living”, said Ms. T.T.N.

Businesses are ready

According to Decree 103/2014/CD-CP of the Government dated 11-11-2014 regarding regional minimum salary levels of employees working at enterprises, cooperatives, cooperative groups, farms, households, individuals, agencies, organizations under labour contracts. Regional minimum salary levels will be applied from 1-1-2015 as follows: Region I is VND3,100,000/month; Region II is VND2,750,000/month; Region III is VND2,400,000/month, and Region IV is VND2,150,000/month.

Compared with the current minimum wage, the new one is from VND250,000 to 400,000/month higher. In Binh Duong province, businesses in Thu Dau Mot City, towns of Thuan An, Di An, Tan Uyen, Ben Cat, and districts of Bau Bang, North Tan Uyen are in region I. Businesses in districts of Phu Giao, Dau Tieng are in region II. The province has no business in region III and IV.

Up to now, provincial businesses are ready for the salary increases. According to Ms. Tran Thi Ha Binh Pung, Human Resource Manager of Kook Saigon III Company in Binh Chuan ward, Thuan An town, her company is willing to increase the minimum wage under the new rule. Their employees can have the first salary increase since 5th January 2015. Accordingly, salaries will increase from VND250,000 to 400,000 depending on employee’s seniority in the company.

Trade Union branches at companies have coordinated with boards of directors on implementation of the new decree. Phu Xuan Company’s Trade Union Chairman Kieu Anh Dung said: “As the Union made the official announcement of the salary increases, employees were very excited. Their joy is also our happiness. We hope that worker’s living will be less hard after this salary increase”.

Particularly, provincial Department of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs (DLISA) opened workshops to give training on the new regulation to businesses, management of industrial parks, staff from LISA Bureaus in 9 provincial localities, and public security sector. LISA Bureaus will give report on the implementation of the new decree to DLISA on 15th Jan 2015.
