Willing spirit

A tumultuous year closed, but the image of busy bustling factories full of laughter in last days of the old year continued to be the motivation for enterprises to continue the journey ahead full of expectations. It is the efforts of each enterprise to overcome difficulties in the new year that will continue to help the economy in the new year prosper. “The Covid-19 is a big test for many businesses, including the leather shoe business community. In 2022, we are ready to face unforeseen difficulties as a result of the pandemic. The leather footwear and handbag industry has no shortage of orders, the only thing we need is to renew ourselves, change management methods, accelerate the application of machinery and production technology to adapt to the new situation, create momentum for development and integration”, said Truong Thuy Lien, Vice President of the Provincial Leather Footwear and Handbag Association.

As an export industry that has reaped many successes in a tumultuous year 2021, wood enterprises enter the new year with the mindset of maintaining their achievements and raising the capacity for sustainable development. Nguyen Liem, Chairman of Binh Duong Furniture Association (BIFA), said that after the Lunar New Year, enterprises in the province are gradually adapting to the new situation and have made adjustments to business production plans to open more markets for domestic consumption and export. The wood industry production has gained more optimistic results, when the number of businesses recovering quickly increased, the export index was quite high in January 2022.

Amidst the difficult time, there were still businesses that found new ways to maintain production, business, and consumption at home and abroad. “The big motivation for us in the early days of the Lunar New Year 2022 is the $15.6 billion of export turnover of the whole year 2021. The wood and forest product processing and export industry has surpassed the pandemic spectacularly, overcame numerous difficulties and challenges", said Nguyen Liem.

Not only for manufacturing industries, retail businesses also expect more successes in 2022 with expansion and development in the Binh Duong market. Furusawa Yasuyuki, General Director of Aeon Vietnam, said that in 2022, the group achieved good growth in Binh Duong market and would continue to increase investment in the province in 2022. “We continue to exploit the potential of Binh Duong market to develop and affirm the position of Aeon retail group in different localities of the province. All effort together with Binh Duong are to develop the trade and service industry to deserve the strong manufacturing industry. It is expected that Aeon would join hands with Binh Duong and energetically begin the new year 2022 as the image of a tiger in Vietnamese culture."

A strategic crossroads

Right at the beginning of the Lunar New Year 2022, the provincial business community believes that adaptation would be the basis to overcome difficulties and embrace development opportunities. According to Luu Tri, Director of Nghe Nang Company (Thuan An City), although the economic recovery process in 2022 could face many challenges, some bottlenecks need to be resolved, but with the direction and administration of the Government, the dynamism of the province, he believes that Binh Duong enterprises would seize opportunities to recover and continue maintain and strengthen their position.

“The reform of administrative procedures, public services provided through information technology application, video conferences organized of Binh Duong leaders are really impressive, especially the rapidly change towards modernity. We have been working on digital transformation in manufacture to adapt to the new situation. The business community hopes that policies continue to be implemented more quickly and decisively, to remove difficulties and obstacles. Support packages have been quickly carried out so that the business community could be revived after the pandemic", Luu Tri expressed his confidence.

Nguyen Liem added that in 2022, Binh Duong wood enterprises are ready for digital transformation to target the five largest markets of Vietnam, namely the US, Japan, China, Korea and the European Union. These are dynamic markets and are strongly affected by the pandemic, which has changed consumer behavior. That change has created pressure and challenges, forcing businesses to innovate and improve at all stages, from design, production, to commerce, in which digitization is a key factor. In this industry, there are many enterprises with annual sales of up to billions of USD, hoping to catch up with the trend of digital transformation to improve capacity and create higher added value.
