How to successfully penetrate the demanding German market and meet its tough requirements for exports was shared at a forum held in Berlin on May 30.
Charge D’affaires Bui Ngoc Toan of the Vietnamese Embassy confirmed that the Vietnam-Germany strategic partnership is opening up a plenty of opportunity for the two countries’ business circles, as well as Vietnamese businesses at home and overseas to strengthen trade and investment links.
The participation of large numbers of Vietnamese businesses is testimony to the business community’s determination to promote economic and trade ties between Vietnam and Germany, said Toan.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Ho Thi Kim Thoa said the forum created the chance for Vietnamese businesses to increase trade exchanges and seek ways to gain a firm foothold in the German market.
“We welcome recommendations to the governments of Vietnam and Germany to assist businesses in cooperation and development,” Thoa assured the participants.
Germany is a potential market for Vietnamese businesses, as Vietnamese exports to Germany accounts for just 0.2 percent of the total imports of this European Union member country. With bilateral growing trade ties and the signing of trade agreements between Vietnam and Germany and other EU member countries, Vietnamese businesses will have a window of opportunity to expand operations and increase exports to Germany.
The crux of the matter is that businesses have to work close together to explore and carve out a niche market in Germany and Europe as a whole, meeting their tough requirements, said Thoa.
The forum was jointly held by the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade of Vietnam (Viettinbank), and the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany.
