Businesses need to raise their role in “Vietnamese people give priority to using Vietnamese goods” campaign

The result of implementing the “Vietnamese people give priority to using Vietnamese goods” campaign in Binh Duong over the past five years showed that this was an effective and practical program. But, domestic enterprises need to focus on raising their role in the campaign for better results.

Obvious efficiency

Provincial Steering Board of the “Vietnamese people give priority to using Vietnamese goods” campaign has just forwarded a conference to review the five-year implementation of the campaign.

In general, the campaign over time made positive impacts on customers, agencies, units…; helped customers have more sufficient awareness of their rights, interests and responsibilities to domestic goods. Vietnamese trademarks also gradually dominated the domestic market.

The biggest efficiency from the campaign during the past five years was employment and income for Vietnamese laborers. And the campaign in the province actually reached in-depth development, absorbing involvement of people from all strata and greatly contributing to the local tasks of market price stabilization, market control…

The campaign also contributed to promoting the local trade promotion activities, effectively supporting enterprises in expanding their distribution systems, especially rural market.

More self-motivation needed

The statement was made by most delegates at the conference. They raised some shortcomings of the campaign during the 2011 and 2015 period. According to them, the organizers of the campaign needed to boost propaganda work, especially raise Vietnamese enterprises’ awareness and role in the international integration process.

It is predicted that the world’s economy will further face difficulties with slow recovery. In the situation, the Government has issued concrete measures in the management work of the “Vietnamese people give priority to using Vietnamese goods” campaign for better results. In Binh Duong alone, the local economy reached a high growth rate compared to other localities in the country. So far, the whole province has absorbed nearly 17,270 domestic investment projects and 2,370 FDI ones. Hence, one of the province’s key tasks is to advocate enterprises to raise their role in the international integration process.

Phu Huu Minh, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Planning and Investment said that over the past time, the “Vietnamese people give priority to using Vietnamese goods” campaign contributed to changing public awareness of using Vietnamese goods. For the campaign further reaching in-depth development, enterprises need to attach special importance to making hi-quality products with reasonable price.

According to Ho Van Binh, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnam is going to join ASEAN free trade area (AFTA). Accordingly, many goods from countries in the region will penetrate Vietnam with zero tariff rates. Therefore, provincial Steering Board of the campaign needs to realize that this is an indispensable trend in the international integration process. Enterprises must also try to affirm their trademarks, enhance competitiveness and make preparations to welcome opportunities as well as facing great challenges ahead.
