Buzzing year-end markets

Experiencing a storm called Covid-19, Binh Duong is on the way of socio-economic recovery and development in a "new normal" condition. At many markets in Thu Dau Mot City, Thuan An City, Ben Cat Town... in the last days of lunar December, the atmosphere has been buzzing again, the volume of stocked goods by retailers for Tet sale is large and diverse in designs and types.

People do shopping but guarantee disease safety at Hoang Gia market (Tan Dinh ward, Ben Cat town).

 Commodity market is stable

Nguyen Thi Thoa, a retailer at Hoang Gia market (Tan Dinh ward, Ben Cat town), said that in fact, the amount of goods sold every day was increasing, thus she decided to stock more goods, about 10% higher than Lunar New Year 2021. “From the end of November, when the number of workers from other provinces and cities started to return to Binh Duong, the market has become burgeoning. It is expected that the Tet markets would be also crowded", said Thoa.

Le Thi Phuong, a retailer of pork at Thu Dau Mot market, said that after a short time of lack of supply due to the coronavirus, the quantity of goods at Thu Dau Mot market is now relatively adequate. Because the Covid-19 has been controlled quite well and most people are confident to live together safely, goods buying and selling are going on quite smoothly. Particularly for pork products of Phuong, the quantity of products has been maintained stably with stable prices compared to the previous time and during the disease outbreak, the number of customers and buyers is also higher than before. "There are days when all products are sold out at about 10 o'clock," Phuong said.

At Thu Dau Mot City, Thuan An City, Di An City, the amount of goods stocked by supermarkets is also quite adequate. In particular, a number of supermarkets and stores are also offering promotional programs on the occasion of the 2022 Lunar New Year. Through promotions, supermarkets and stores expect to continue stimulating demand and gradually warm up the provincial commercial and service market again in the first months of 2022.

To live together safely

Although the disease outbreak has been controlled quite well, people are very voluntarily complying with the "5K" message of Ministry of Health. The clearest proof for this is that although the quantity of goods sold is relatively high, the number of people going in and out of markets, supermarkets and shops is quite large, but consumers buy quickly, avoiding large gatherings at the same time. In addition, people also often wear face masks and disinfect their hands, especially when in close contact with others.

Nguyen Tan Thanh, owner of a shop selling and repairing industrial electrical equipment in Dinh Hoa ward (Thu Dau Mot city), said that although the disease outbreak has been restrained, his shop maintains the implementation of the "5K" message of the Ministry of Health. Specifically, customers, who come to buy, sell, and repair machines, stand outside a restricted area. His employees always comply with the regulations on keeping distance, wearing face masks when interacting with customers.

Not only shops, but also stalls in markets are fully implementing the "5K" message of the Ministry of Health. Nguyen Thi Thom, owner of a grocery store at Phu Van market (Phu Tho ward, Thu Dau Mot city), said that since the outbreak of the coronavirus, her stall has been maintaining disease prevention control regulations. Accordingly, from the very beginning, her family defined themselves a restricted area to maintain a fixed distance between buyers and sellers. During the delivery and reception of goods and money, she also asked her employees to regularly disinfect their hands. "Doing this is a bit inconvenient and expensive compared to before, but it will ensure that our families and shoppers are safe from the disease," Thom said.

To ensure that people do shopping safely during the Lunar New Year 2022, People's Committees of districts, towns and cities have simultaneously disseminated and updated plans to regulate and coordinate the flow of people in and out of conventional markets, supermarket system, shops... Accordingly, Management Boards of markets, supermarkets and shop owners are responsible for allocating personnel on duty at entrances and within the premises of markets, supermarkets and shops to regulate in case of large gatherings. This option also helps municipalities to suppress criminals taking advantage of crowded gatherings to practice theft and pick pockets.
