Southern Industry Rubber Corp (Casumina) has put into operation the steel-truck tire manufacturing plant (Casumina Radial Factory) located in Uyen Hung ward, Tan Uyen town, Binh Duong province. Attending the opening ceremony were deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai, the provincial People’s Committee vice chairman Tran Van Nam and leaders of ministries, agencies and localities.

Casumina Radial Factory covering an area of 120,000 square meters has a capacity to produce one million tires per year with a total investment of VND3.380bil (US$160mil).
In the first phase, the factory will reach a capacity of 350,000 tires per year to meet local and foreign markets. Till 2015, the factory’s 2nd phase will produce 600,000 tires per year and 1 million ones per year by 2017.
The factory’s operation will create additional VND5,000bil for the corp and pay over VND500bil to the State budget and place jobs for 1,200 laborers.
Participating in the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai applauded Casumina’s efforts in creating a new development of manufacturing steel-truck tires, contributing to meet local and foreign markets as well as minimizing dependence on import.
Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai also noted that Casumina should in the coming time focus on some issues relating to human resources management and training and trademark development in the local and foreign markets to improve its competitive capacity.
