Visiting Tan Uyen district’s Bach Dang commune in the last days of June, visitors will realize changes in the agricultural land.
A wide bridge spans Bach Dang islet and routes leading to the communal hub create advantages for local people. Asphalted routes surrounding grapefruit gardens and paddy fields witness busy ambience of trucks carrying farm product to markets. Local people’s life has been changed positively.

Pham Van Hoang, the communal chairman, said “Before 2000, this was an agricultural islet commune with poor infrastructure facility. But over the past 10 years, the communal image has showed a great change”. The local key routes have been asphalted with the total length of over 20km. Besides, the commune completed 39 gravel routes with the total length of 21.1km and 3 pumping stations to meet local farmers’ demand on production.At present, the rate of local people using clean water has reached 100%. Thanks to scientific transfer in production, local agricultural production value in 2010 won VND59.9mil per ha, a VND29.6mil per ha from 2000.
Local farmers have presently implemented production in line with VietGap standard, increasing average income of local people. Nguyen Van Hung, a grapefruit grower, said “transport and business of local farmers have become more comfortable. We hope that the State will support for farm product to improve income for local farmers”.
The done results are thanks to hi-unity from local authority and people. Hoang added “During 10 years of implementing rural building, local people’s life has been improved. The commune will strive to perfect the remaining goals in 2012”.
Bach Dang’s good conditions of nature and manpower are advantages for the locality to excel the national program on building new rural areas in the coming time.
