Cleaner production is one of important tasks in industrial manufacture at present as it not only helps enterprises enhance their efficiency in production, but also protects the environment, improve laborers’ health and promotes sustainable industrial development. Binh Duong has also reaped initial results in the implementation of the National Strategy on Cleaner Production in Industry till 2020.

Continuously applying production management and technical measurers to prevent and minimize waste, boost the effectiveness of using natural resources, improve production and business at industrial production establishments is seen as cleaner production in industry.

In 2009, the Government’s Prime Minister promulgated Decision No. 1419/QD-TTg on approval of the National Strategy on Cleaner Production in Industry in the period of 2012 and 2015. To effectively implement the Decision, provincial Department of Industry and Trade (DoIT) has mapped out an action plan on cleaner production in industry between 2012 and 2015. The goals of the plan are to have 50% of industrial production establishments with awareness of benefits from applying cleaner production in industry; get 25% of industrial production establishments with technical staff who are also in charge of cleaner production…
Raising enterprises’ awareness
Under the National Strategy on Cleaner Production in Industry in the 2009-2014 period, Binh Duong has so far organized 6 training courses on cleaner production; had a quick assessment about cleaner production at many enterprises; simultaneously carried out a subject on “Researching and applying cleaner production measures to build a model on cleaner production for province-based enterprises in woodwork processing and garment & textile”…
According to Le Van Chi, Director of the Center for Industrial Promotion and Industry Development Consultancy under provincial DoIT, the center gave provincial DOIT advice in State administration relating to the implementation of the province’s programs on cleaner production over the past time. The center also helped participating enterprises get a quick and overall assessment about cleaner production for support from State budget, thereby helping them get access to more programs on cleaner production in industry.
To well realize provincial DoIT’s plan on cleaner production in industry, according to Mr.Chi, provincial Center for Industrial Promotion and Industry Development Consultancy will speed up propaganda work to raise enterprises’ awareness of cleaner production; mobilize them to apply cleaner production in industry and environmental protection. The center will also bring some benefits from cleaner production to teaching programs at schools, step by step forming up awareness of sustainable and clean production among teachers, pupils and students.
According to Nguyen Van Huu, Deputy Director of provincial DoIT, enterprises need to pay more attention to environmental protection towards sustainable development. In the coming time, provincial DoIT will map out action plans on cleaner production in industry and get access to capital sources to be able to apply cleaner production at enterprises, contributing to realizing the local sustainable industrial development goal.
