Cleaner production (CP) has become one of the important strategies of the Binh Duong industry to help enterprises build image, improve production efficiency, protect the environment, human health and develop sustainably.

Opportunities for enterprises
CP is the continuous application of environmental prevention strategies integrated into production processes, products and services to enhance ecological efficiency, reduce risks for humans and the environment, with the goal of avoiding pollution by using resources, materials and energy in the most efficient way.
Binh Duong is a province with high economic growth rate of the whole country. This development means that the consumption of raw materials, fuel, materials and energy is on the rise, leading to increasingly polluting sources from a growing number of enterprises and existing natural resources are gradually exhausted.
On July 19, 2016, provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 1849 / QD-UBND on promulgation of the CP plan for industrialization in the province period 2016-2020. The plan stated: "Production activities must pay attention to efficient use of raw materials and energy inputs, reduce emissions and limit contamination of outputs, protect and improve the quality of the environment, human health and ensure sustainable development. By 2020, 50% of industrial production establishments would apply cleaner solutions to save from 8% to 13% of energy, raw materials and fuel consumption per product unit". This is the right direction for all industrial facilities.
According to Dr. Tran Van Thanh, Institute of Environment and Resources, National University of Ho Chi Minh City, the application of CP brings benefits and economic efficiency for businesses, helping businesses minimize costs and the amount of industrial waste generated in the production and business process. That is the indispensable development direction of enterprises in the future. The cost of CP application depends on options selected by enterprises. For instance, internal management does not require investment costs and can be implemented immediately after the solutions are identified. The enterprise set out a solution to overcoming leakage points, closing valves or shutting down equipment when not used to avoid losses... According to Dr. Thanh, implementation of CP is not difficult to enterprises, but enterprises must have commitments, especially to maintaining the CP assessment during production and business.
Currently, there is a boom in demand for green products. Therefore, when enterprises have made efforts on CP implementation, they will be able to open up new market opportunities and produce higher quality products with higher prices.
Good signals from provincial enterprises
Due to the synchronous implementation of solutions, the application of CP in provincial industrial production facilities began to see good changes. Most enterprises have realized benefits of CP in production process. In addition, the support for enterprises to carry out rapid, detail assessment of CP has brought practical effects; especially it has extensive spread to business community in the province. CP is more applicable to all sizes of enterprises, but the level of effectiveness depends on many factors such as size, resources, technology... At present, timber enterprises in the province have used 5S internal management tools to implement the CP model.
At the workshop "Cleaner Production and Energy Saving in 2017", leaders of many enterprises in the province actively introduced cleaner and energy saving solutions. Representative of Panasonic Corporation introduced solar energy system solutions based on the potential of solar power in Vietnam. This was an example of technological improvement solutions in production that helps the company save energy, use environmentally friendly materials. ABB Vietnam Company introduced an effective solution from "Energy saving solution for pumps, fans, compressors". This was a typical solution for the harmonious combination of internal management and technical improvement in production to save electricity during production.
With efforts of all levels and sectors, the positive response of enterprises in the province, Binh Duong province will achieve CP targets for industrial production in the future.
