Orchid growing is one of the ward’s effective collective economic models. The cooperation group now includes 12 members with a total area for orchid growing at more than 6,000 square meters. According to Nguyen Hien Nhon, Head of the group, members of the group mainly grow mokara orchids because of having hi-economic efficiency. Every three months, they regularly meet to exchange and share experience, techniques in developing orchids and solutions to prevent pestilent insects.
Ward-based safe vegetable cooperation groups have also taken fruits in production and business. The ward is now home to 2 such cooperative groups with 17 members. Taking full advantage of their families’ land, members of these cooperative groups get involved in growing various vegetables to serve the demand of the market in and out of the town.
Nguyen Van Hi, Head of Binh Thuan 2 quarter’s cooperative group on growing safe vegetables said that the cooperative group now has more than 12,000 square meters of farming land for growing various vegetables. He has also regularly met members of the group to share experience against pestilent insects. In addition, members of the group have made coherence in product price and supply, thereby step by step improving productivity and economic efficiency from this model.
Nguyen Thanh Hoi, Chairman of the ward’s People’s Committee, Head of Thuan Giao ward’s Steering Board of Collective Economy said that the ward is now home to 1 cooperative and 6 cooperative groups with nearly 60 members. To promote the local economy, the ward has called for households with the same business-production scopes to establish cooperatives, cooperative groups. But, many cooperatives have still faced difficulties in terms of consumption market, so it is necessary for them to expand coherence for supplying products. This will help them maintain stable production.
