Increased pressure on the CPI
According to Bureau of Statistics, the consumer price index (CPI) in April of the province increased 0.42% over the previous month; including transport services increased 1.77%, prices of housing and construction materials rose 1.33%, educational products increased 1.1%... The CPI increases in provinces, cities have increased the national CPI in the first 4 months 1.33% compared to the end of 2015 and increased 1.89% over the same period in 2015.
According to the Price Management Department (Ministry of Finance), in May, a number of factors have put pressure on prices, like: the dry weather, salinization at the Mekong Delta, affecting domestic rice prices. Prices of some fresh food,
such as beef, poultry meat, may increase, because people are concerned about the safety of seafood, due to mass fish deaths in several central provinces recently. Besides, prices of some fuels, such as gasoline, oil, LPG ... tend to recover, putting pressure on prices of these commodities in the domestic market.
Industrial Information and Commercial Center (MOIT) forecasted that prices of sugar, fertilizers, retail steel would increase slightly. Prices of raw materials for animal feed in the country may increase in May, due to high demands for corns and soybeans, while price of these commodities in the world is rising.
Experts also said, currently, the inflation curb at 5% in 2016 of our country has posed many challenges, especially when many commodities’ price in the world could increase sharply in the future, directly affecting domestic prices of many commodities.
