A national conference was held in Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province on August 22 to realise the Government’s Decree 67/2014/ND-CP on several policies on fisheries development.

Under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister, Vu Van Ninh, ideas of departments and agencies of localities across the country and businesses were collected to help ministries issues documents to implement the Decree, which will be effective from August 25.
Some 10 documents, including Decisions and Circulars by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), the Ministry of Finance (MOF) and the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), were reviewed.
In one of these, the SBV completed a circular on implementing credit policies. The MOF is drafting circulars on supporting investment, tax, interest rates and insurance and directing several matters to insurance companies taking part in implementing the Decree.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Cao Duc Phat has signed a decision on appointing agencies to design steel-hulled fishing and logistical support vessels, directing the quantity of new vessels to be built. MARD is finalising circulars on technical requirements for vessel design, shipbuilding facilities and vessel maintenance and repairs.
According to the MARD circular, the number of new fishing and logistical support vessels must not exceed 2,079 and 205 respectively by 2016.
