At the end of November, Dau Tieng District Farmers' Union held a closing ceremony of movement of good farmers in production and business in the 2019-2021 period and the midterm summary of the 5th Congress Resolution (2018-2023). Raising poultry under rubber-tree shade
Following his family to settle down in Long Tan since 1992, Nguyen Tien Hieu, grew and tapped rubber trees. When the price of rubber latex significantly, Hieu was aware of the need for a change in his family economic structure. In 2010, he decided to went to famous places for livestock and poultry farming in the region to learn their experience. After many visits and comparisons with the climatic and soil conditions, Hieu decided to start a home-based business by raising chickens and ducks according to the cold farm model.
At that time, most of his family's agricultural land was for rubber trees, hence the construction and establishment of the farm must initially do under the trees. This seemed to come to nothing, but right from the first season, Hieu found a method of super-profitable and sustainable economic development. The poultry farm under rubber-tree shade was expanded with a system of improved cages and tools, was more and more spacious and modern.
With unremitting efforts, after 11 years of poultry farm by applying advanced technologies, Hieu's family now earns about 3.5 billion VND of profit every year. His family also provides regular employment for 18 local workers with an average income of 8-12 million VND/person/month. Even during the time of being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the income of Nguyen Tien Hieu's farm and his employees was well maintained.
To ignite the passion
Hieu said that to get good results of today, his family is very grateful to local leadership and Farmers' Union. According to him, in the most difficult time when latex price was lower than wage for latex-tapping workers, Farmers' Union at all levels promptly held seminars on business model transformation, and took farmers to effective economic models of animal husbandry and cultivation to learn experience. This is the basis of the most effective high-tech farming and breeding farms in the district today.
Pham Quang Vinh, Chairman of Farmers' Union of Minh Hoa Commune, said that, following the direction of the Central Farmers' Union, Provincial and district Farmers' Unions, the Commune Party Committee, and People's Committee, Farmers' Union of Minh Hoa Commune regularly innovate their organization and mode of operation of movements. By the end of 2021, the whole Minh Hoa commune has 32 associations and 5 branches with a total of 72 people. These are the people, who light the fire and spread the passion to 786 farmer members, who are burning the will to earn livings from agricultural production in the area.
Le Van Anh, Chairman of Dau Tieng District Farmers' Union, said that in the coming time, the district union would continue to enhance the movement of good farmers in production and business. The district Farmers' Union will also gradually expand activities to support farmers in access effective models, farming science technology and agricultural production loans with preferential interest rates. "We will try to do the best we can to ignite the passion of farmers, accompanying farmers on every path," said Le Van Anh.
