Dinh An is a special commune of Dau Tieng district. This is because the district’s reestablishment day is also the day of setting up the commune. As an agricultural locality with difficulties, Dinh An commune has so far got more prosperous and beautiful.
Reshaping
In wartime, Dinh An was seen as a fierce war zone between Vietnamese soldiers and enemy forces. After national liberation, it was still an agricultural locality with rubber trees-growing area alternated with the area of growing rice, vegetables and crops.
Dinh An commune was officially set up on August 20, 1999 with a total natural land of 11,448 hectares and 5,377 people living in 7 hamlets. A part of the commune was developed into Dinh Thanh commune on January 2004. Hence, Dinh An commune now has a total area of 7.030 and 1,832 households with 7,054 people.
As an agricultural locality with difficulties, Dinh An commune has developed with a new image so far.
During the initial period of establishment, Dinh An was very poor in terms of socio-economic infrastructure. The local people’s material and spiritual lives faced a lot of difficulties. From an agricultural locality, Dinh An has so far promoted the local economic structure towards the gradual growth of industry, small scale industry and services. The proportion of the local economic structure is now 77.4% in agriculture, 9% in trade-services and 13.6% in industry-small scale industry-construction.
In 1999, the average income per capita in the commune was VND5mln. The figure is VND30mln in 2014. The ratio of the local households in use of power has so far reached 99.8% of total, a twofold increase compared to that of 1999.
Coming to Dinh An commune today, all people will obviously feel the integral efforts by government and people of the commune in the local development and construction. Till now, Dinh An has had a total of 102 roads of over 87km upgraded with total expense of more than VND20bln, including more than VND5bln from the local people.
Image of a new rural area
Dinh An commune has focused on goods production in association with consumption market to generate products with competitive advantages. The commune has also mechanized the local agricultural production for better results, which is seen as a premise for industrialization, modernization in rural and agricultural development. The whole commune is now home to 11 production and trading facilities and 263 individual business households in the domains of trade-services.
Realizing that rubber brings high economic efficiency, Dinh An commune’s Party Committee and People’s Committee have mobilized the local people to plant this kind of tree with a total area of 5,208 hectares, up 1,725 hectares compared to that of 1999. Along with State-run enterprises, the local people have actively changed crop plants with low economic efficiency to developing rubber tree.
After its 15-year development, Dinh An commune has constantly developed and become one of Dau Tieng district’s top localities in economic development and new rural construction. Hoang Thi Thu, Chairman of Dinh An communal People’s Committee said that under the local Party and government’s good leadership plus the great efforts by the local people, Dinh An commune over the past 15 years gained a lot of achievements. They contributed to reshaping this remote area. In the coming time, leaders of the commune will make more efforts to reach important targets, helping promote the local development and improve the lives of the local people.
