From an agricultural locality with difficulties, Dau Tieng district has early defined the local advantages and made efforts in diversifying economic sectors. This has helped the local economy get thriving. The spiritual and material lives of the local people have also been improved a lot.
Paving way for development
Rubber tree is defined as a main plant of Dau Tieng district. The district now has a total of 50,000 hectares of rubber tree. Besides, the district is also home to 615 hectares of various fruit trees; 214 farms on animal husbandry with 88,000 cattle heads and 116,000 square meters of aquaculture. This has showed the local flexibility in diversifying various plants and animals in economic development.

In recent year, the district’s economy has reached stable growth with the annual GRDP growth at 10%. The district’s economic structure has been shifted in the right direction with 37.42% in industrial production, 32.38% in trade-service and 30.2% in agriculture. The average income per capita of the local people has reached VND45.5 million per year.
In terms of industrial development, established in 2016, Thanh An Industrial Compound (IC) has so far created jobs for more than 1,000 laborers. An Lap IC of 75 hectares has also absorbed more investment projects.
More sustainable development
Over the past time, Dau Tieng district gained considerable results in terms of planning, urban management, traffic and basic construction. The district continued upgrading the local infrastructure system under the Program No.19 of the local Party Committee on urban development. Since 2016, the district has mobilized locals to upgrade quarters with concrete and asphalt. Dau Tieng township has carried out such 45 roads of 8.7 km with a total expense of VND13.9billion, thereby step by step changing the local urban image.
In the coming time, the district will continue realizing action programs on tourism and urban development; make the shift of the local economic structure towards the gradual growth of industrial production and services; promote industrial parks to absorb more investment projects and generate jobs for local laborers…
The district will also continue realizing the restructuring of agriculture; mobilize farmers to make mutual coherence for better development…Accordingly, the district will concentrate on fostering hi-tech agricultural models in association with ecotourism development and new rural construction. Along with economic development, the district will also mobilize organizations, individuals to take care of the spiritual and material lives of policy beneficiaries, poor households…
It is known that the whole district is now home to 5,853 individual business households, thereby contributing to promoting the local trade-service sector and meeting locals’ demand for shopping. The district has also linked with relevant units to design plenty of attractive tours to serve the demand of people in and out of the province; built 3 ferry terminals with a total expense of VND630million, contributing to promoting the local tourism…
