In 2019, Dau Tieng district’s socio-economic performance continued reaching stable development. The district’s new-style rural communes further carried out their plans on improving the quality of criteria under a new set of the central and provincial criteria. Thanh An commune was also recognized as an advanced new-style rural commune.
Comprehensive economic development
The district’s industrial production value in 2019 was estimated at more than VND6.65trillion, up 22.2% while total retail sales revenue of commodities and services was more than VND4trillion, up 5.6%. District-based Thanh An industrial compound also absorbed 15 enterprises, bringing the total number of enterprises in the district to 369 with 5,596 laborers. In terms of agricultural production, rubber was still a main crop plant of the district with 49,800 hectares. The whole district had 217 large-scale animal husbandry farms, 148 farms with hi-tech application. There were also 660 hectares of fruit trees, mainly in Thanh Tuyen and Thanh communes. The local farmers won prizes at the annual southeastern competitions on delicious fruits.
In addition, the district carried out a model on intensive farming for citrus fruit trees under VietGAP standards and linkage from production to consumption in 2 communes of Minh Hoa and Minh Thanh. The district also fostered a modern irrigation model for various fruit trees in communes of Dinh Thanh, Minh Hoa and Thanh An with a total area of 21 hectares. Initially, the model has brought the local farmers stable economic efficiency, contributing to protecting water resources. The district also had 105 hectares of farming land with hi-tech application.
Regarding trade-services, the district in 2019 granted 581 business registration certificates to individual business households with a total registered capital of nearly VND189billion. The district also successfully organized a program “bringing Vietnamese goods to rural areas” and trade fairs on consumer goods, well meeting people’s demand for shopping.
New opportunities
Long Tan is one of the district’s communes with strong economic development. The commune now has 2 State-run enterprises and more than 10 private enterprises, generating jobs for more than 350 laborers. In 2019, these enterprises reached more than VND25billion in profit.
Noticeably, the expanded Bau Bang industrial park project in Long Tan commune with 100.4 hectares is underway. The district’s People’s Committee also approved the expanded Long Tan industrial compound project with 75 hectares. This is seen as an opportunity for the commune to reach a breakthrough in industrial development. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh, Chairman of Long Tan communal People’s Committee said that the commune’s top priority is to further develop infrastructure facilities, encouraging enterprises and people to make investment in industrial production, trade-services. With solutions in line with the local real situation, the commune will reap vigorous development in the coming time.
Whilst, Thanh Tuyen commune’s economic structure in 2019 continued being shifted in the right direction. Agricultural production only accounted for 39% of the local economic structure. In 2010, the commune will strive to get trade-services and industrial manufacture accounting for 70%-80% of the local economic structure. To achieve the target, the commune is coordinating with sectors, authorities at all levels to create favorable conditions for enterprises in industrial production, trade-services, generating jobs for laborers and significantly contributing to the local development…
Tran Quang Tuyen, Vice-Chairman of Dau Tieng district’s People’s Committee said that the district in 2020 will boost traffic infrastructure with regional connection, aiming to promote the local trade-services, tourism and industrial production.
