According to a report by the 389 National Steering Committee, in the first 6 months of 2022, the whole country detected and handled 54,199 cases of smuggling, commercial fraud and counterfeit goods, which decreased by 25.05% over the same period in 2021 to earn the revenue and payment to the state budget of VND 3,728 billion. However, the number of cases detected and handled has a larger scale, complex nature, and more sophisticated methods and tricks in a trend of shifting from small scale to taking advantage of legal entities to operate.
In Binh Duong, in the first 6 months of 2022, the functional forces inspected 3,490 cases (decreased by 48% compared to the same period in 2021) to detect 2,784 violations (decreased by 19% compared to the same period in 2021) and handle 2,675 cases (decreased by 12% over the same period in 2021). The total amount of fines and arrears was VND 230 billion 130 million (increased by 22% compared to the same period in 2021), of which the amount of fines was VND 71.4 billion VND (increased by 18% compared to the same period in 2021), arrears VND 158 billion 310 million (increased by 23.8% over the same period in 2021), and proceeds from the sale of confiscated goods VND 409 million; the estimated value of confiscated goods was VND 940 million.

Speaking at the conference, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh noted that many tasks from now until the end of 2022 remained undone including trade, import and export. Therefore, the problem of preventing counterfeit goods, commercial fraud, and poor quality goods needs more drastic measures with attention to the implementation of thematic anti-smuggling, commercial fraud and counterfeit goods for cigarettes, sugar, gasoline, biological products, equipment and medical supplies.
