In November, 2014, inflation was controlled well with only 2.08% increase of consumption price index compared with December of 2013.
Many advantaged factors make essential items’ price in this month plunge down.
This was the lowest increase level compared with the same period of the 10 past years. In addition, the total goods retail and service turnover increased strongly. Essential goods market, especially energy items such as petrol, gas showed a stability or decrease, contributing to reduce pressure on price in the year-end.
Price under stability
Escalation of price in the year-end always becomes an obsession for consumers. However, price of essential items at local markets is in stability.
At Thu Dau Mot market, rice price is at VND13,500-17,000 per kg depending on various varities. Meanwhile, price of meat such as beef, pork, chicken is at VND75,000-140,000 per kg depending on various kinds of meat. In addition, vegetables are at about VND12,000 per kg.
The provincial Finance Department said that the rising demand on foodstuff in the year-end, price of goods remains stabled, owing to abundant supply.
Meanwhile, the Finance Ministry’s Price Management Bureau said that many items are forecasted at stable level of price, including rice. Price of items including sugar, fertilizer is not changes much, due to increase of supply.
Especially, 2 essential items of petrol and gas are forecasted to slightly reduce in December compared with the previous month.
Active measures of market control
According to the price management bureau, in the final month of 2014 and early months of 2015, there will be likely pressure on price, owing to the rising demand on commodities for 2015 Lunar New Year. Therefore, purchasing power will likely increase plus cold weather in the first half of December, some items of apparel, footwear and household utensils will skyrocket in price.
Therefore, the Finance Ministry suggested ministries, sectors and localities to continue acceleration of price stability and control in an attempt to ensure supply of commodities in general and essential goods such as foodstuff in particular. Simultaneously, the functional agencies should carry out promotional programs to reduce price and stabilize market price in conformity with real situations of every locality.
Price of some essential items on the world market continues to decline, owing to reduction of petrol and gas in the past month and early December. In addition, price of transport contributes to cut pressure on market price, according to the price management bureau.
