Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to intensify regulations on food safety

Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has just issued a document implementing Directive No. 09/CT-TTg dated April 4, 2018 of the Prime Minister on the tasks and solutions to overcome the situation of Vietnamese aqua-cultural products being warned and returned by foreign countries. Accordingly, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development assigns the Provincial Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery Quality Assurance to continue the propaganda and dissemination of legal provisions on food safety in production and trading of aquatic products; on guidance and support of collective establishments, preliminary processing of aquatic products by applying advanced production and management processes to ensure food safety. The department asked the sub-department to develop a program to support linking preliminarily processing enterprises and processing aquatic products for export in the province with clean raw material areas meeting the standards of import markets, ensuring the traceability of products and strengthen monitoring of food safety indicators in food production and trading.

For Sub-departments of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Aquatic Resources, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development requests the need to actively inspect, monitor and early warn fish diseases on reared aquaculture so that farmers can apply measures to prevent diseases effectively, using aquatic veterinary drugs in the right kind, right time, right dosage and no use of prohibited substances to prevent diseases. At the same time, the sub-departments should intensify the inspection and examination of the circulation, purchase, sale and use of veterinary drugs, animal feeds, treatment and improvement of aquacultural environment in contravention of regulations and treatment.
