The family of Tran Ngoc Hien at My Hao hamlet, Chanh My commune, TDM city is well-known as a good farmer household in production and business for many consecutive years. Especially, Hien, 27, the youngest daughter of the family is an outstanding young farmer of the locality.
Born in an agricultural family, Hien
always nurtured a thought of pursuing farm doings like her parents when being a
child. That’s reason why she attended a training course on veterinary at
intermediate level and graduated in 2007. Thanks to her knowledge learnt at school
plus experience from her family, Hien has effectively developed the model of
breeding goats.
Hien now possesses a herd of goats with enough varieties bearing good features for high commercial value.
Previously, the family of Hien got involved in breeding various animals such as buffaloes, ducks…, but economic efficiency from them was not high. In 2008, she researched and decided to develop the goat-breeding model. She was very active to develop new varieties of goats. So far, she has fostered a herd of goats with enough varieties bearing good features for high commercial value.
According to Hien, one of the most difficult thing in promoting the goat-breeding model is to prevent and treat diseases in this kind of animal. But, goats bring higher economic efficiency than other animals. They only use simple foodstuff like various leaves, grass…, so their breeders spend few on foodstuff for this kind of animal. On average, goats will have from 1 to 3 baby goats after 4-month breeding.
It is known that Hien sells around 60 goats every year, bringing her the average income of VND120mln. Along with the goal-breeding model, she has developed a fish pond of 3,000sq.m with the annual income of VND60mln. She has also taken full advantage of the fish pond to grow water-lily with the daily income of VND200,000.
Tran Ngoc Hien and her family were awarded the certificates of merit for their achievements in agricultural production over the past years. Noticeably, Hien was among 300 young farmers awarded the 7th Luong Dinh Cua Award in 2011. It is known that this is a noble award organized by the Central Committee of the HCM Communist Youth Union for good young farmers and outstanding youngsters for achievements in production and business.
