At present, the whole country has over 2,000 craft villages with their distinctive traditions. Craft villages in the province are under preservation and promotion. And, development and recovery of craft villages is one of crucial goals of local tourism development.
Binh Duong craft villages – potentials of tourism development
The entire province has so far had 32 craft villages with 9 traditional industries including ceramics, lacquer, sculpture… The local craft villages have lured great attention from tourists.
Dai Hung jar kiln, one of provincial historic relics needs more investment for development of craft village tourism.
Export of handicraft products from the craft villages has contributed to local socio-economic development. Therefore, recovery, preservation and development of craft villages are one of factors impacting on local socio-economic development and tourism industry.
Combination between handicraft production and craft village tourism has helped make diversity for tourism products. Realizing importance of recovery, preservation and development of craft villages for tourism development, functional agencies have over years had right orientations in tapping traditional craft villages.
Orientations for development of craft village tourism
Craft village tourism in the province has a great potential for local tourism strategy in the coming time. However, efficiency of craft village tourism remains low, owing to problems of unprompted development, poor investment in pattern and style and poor attraction on tourism destinations and among others.
Therefore, it is necessary to have an attachment between functional agencies and craft villages to display, introduce hi-quality products from local craft villages.
Aside from famous tourism destinations such as Hoi Khanh Temple, Binh An Lake, Lady Temple, Chau Thoi Mountain, Lai Thieu orchard, Dai Nam Van Hien Paradise…, Binh Duong is home to many traditional craft villages of timber sculpture, ceramics and lacquer.
