Di An strives to become a third-class city this year

Over the past years, Di An town reaped a variety of important results in urban development and construction, contributing to promoting the local economy and facilitating the locality’s development into a third-class city in 2016 as oriented.

Economic growth promoted

Over the past years, Di An town attached special importance to socio-technical infrastructure construction and reached a lot of important results, contributing to giving an impulse to the local industrial, trade-service and urban development. The town has so far executed the Di An urban planning, the planning of wards at 1/2000 scale and reached nearly all criteria of a third-class city. Besides, the town has built many key infrastructure projects together with resettlement areas of HCM city National University, Tan Binh residential-service estate, Binh Nguyen new urban estate…, contributing to reshaping the local urban image.

Di An town has concentrated on urban development, striving to become a third-class city in 2016.

Di An town now has a total of 74 residential-urban-housing area projects with 804.52 hectares, including 6 social housing ones at locals’ demand for accommodation. The town has also reached a robust growth in terms of logistics and transportation services. Thanks to having 37 power works upgraded and built, the town has reached 100% of the local households in use of the national power grid. Regarding education, the town is home to 42 public schools at all levels, 80.65% of which have met national standards.

The town has also focused on traffic infrastructure development with regional connection. Till now, there have been all 48 streets and 429 out of 638 under the management of town and ward levels covered by asphalt, respectively. The town has absolutely dealt with 16 out of 42 flooded locations; implemented many irrigation projects, namely T5A, T6 canals… The town is also preparing to build some other projects, namely the phase 2 of Nhum stream,  T5B canal, Tan Dong Hiep ward’s waste water treatment plant…

Modern, synchronous urban development

During the local urban development process, along with advantages, Di An town has faced shortcomings for change.

Under the local urban development plan in the 2016-2020 period with a vision to 2015, Di An town will form up a socio-economic infrastructure system at requirements of sustainable development towards industrialization, modernization and urbanization; ensure social welfare, maintain national defence-security, contributing to helping it reach criteria of a second-class city in 2018 and become a district of Binh Duong city under the central control by 2020.

To achieve the above target, the town will further build up a modern and synchronous technical infrastructure system, especially invest in traffic works with regional connectivity. The town will also mobilize all resources for urban development while creating advantageous conditions for organizations and individuals to get involved in the domains of social housing, trade-service, education…

Nguyen Thanh Phong, Chairman of Di An town’s People’s Committee said that the town will boost the implementation of construction projects; tighten control over infringements in the fields of land management, urban order, construction order…, thereby contributing to improving locals’ quality of life and creating a new image in terms of urban landscape and architecture towards civilized and sustainable development, deserving to be a big economic hub of the province
