Strong development of trade and service
Thanks to rapid urbanization process, Di An town-based trade and service have developed strongly. At present, Di An town has had 12,642 trade-service facilities and 10 cooperatives. The entire town now has 2 trade centers, 3 supermarkets, 19 markets and 25 banks. Service forms of eatery and lodging house have been developed sharply whilst transport service has met local people’s demand.
In 2012 alone, despite the economic downturn, the local trade and service operation took place lively with a high growth. Accordingly, total goods retail and service turnover was at VND12,609bil, a 35% increase from 2011.
Also this year, Di An town People’s Committee newly granted 1,764 business licenses with the total capital of VND144.5bil and changed 394 other licenses with the total registered capital of VND42.2bil.
In response to the mobilization of “Vietnamese give priorities to use Vietnamese goods”, Di An town has worked with the provincial department of Trade and Industry to launch a price stability program across localities.

To protect customers’ rights and interests, Di An town often holds inspections across supermarkets, trade centers, groceries as well as checks price listing, smuggling, etc.
Because the town has many lodging houses, the local authority has issued instructions on inspection and settlement of violations as well as checked electricity retail price for lodgers. In 2012, Di An town fined 46 violations with the total fine of over VND288mil.
To develop trade and service sustainably, Di An town has built and excelled its plan on service-trade development for the 2012-2015 period and vision 2020. Additionally, Di An town has held training classes for market managers to reinforce order at traditional markets.
Shifting production operation
Vo Van Giau, vice chairman of Di An town People’s Committee said that trade and service in Di An has yet to match pace of urbanization.
As planned, Di An town gives priorities to develop areas of high quality trade and service in a bid to shift economic structure focusing on service and trade development.
To gain this goal, Vo Van Giau said that Di An town set out measures to shift economic structure in line with local trade and service development. Specifically, the local administration has urged all sources to upgrade and improve infrastructure facilities of trade and service.
Especially, Di An town will encourage businesses to shift to trade and service areas, especially healthcare, education, environmental hygiene, etc.
