In the era of Industry 4.0, the application of digital technology in agriculture plays a crucial role in increasing product value and driving local economic growth. Particularly, digital transformation creates favorable conditions for the OCOP (One Commune, One Product) program to enhance its economic efficiency. With the enhanced linkage for agricultural product consumption on technology platforms, e-commerce platforms are considered as an optimal solution to create new, modern distribution channels.
Over the past time, provincial People's Committee implemented plans to support agricultural households in accessing EC platforms, promoting the digital agricultural economy in rural areas to facilitate product marketing and market expansion. As a result, local agricultural products are now available on platforms such as Postmart.vn, Voso.vn, Binhduongtrade.vn, and Foodmap. So far, over 2,000 organizations and individuals in the province have registered on e-commerce platforms, with 17,000 participants in the agricultural sector signing up for online trading.
With trade promotion serving as the driving force and digital transformation as the foundation, the OCOP program has aimed at ensuring the sustainable and effective development of OCOP products. OCOP businesses have actively applied digital transformation in various stages, including production, processing and marketing. Notable advancements include QR code-based traceability systems and social media marketing. The results show that digital transformation has enabled the agricultural sector and producers to reach a wider audience, boost sales and expand distribution channels, helping local OCOP products enter the global market. Notably, the economic value of provincial agricultural products has increased by at least 20%, due to OCOP certification. Furthermore, e-commerce platforms have accelerated market access, leading to a 50% increase in sales compared to previous years.
Nguyen Phong Huy, Head of provincial Rural Development Sub-department said that the plan to support agricultural production households in joining e-commerce platforms and promoting the development of the digital economy in agriculture and rural areas in the province aims at having over 50% of agricultural households with digital stores on e-commerce platforms and over 60% of households with electronic payment accounts by 2025. To achieve this goal, the province's agricultural sector has implemented synchronized solutions, upheld local advantages, forming and developing concentrated commodity production areas, developing products that meet VietGAP, GlobalGAP and HACCP standards. In addition, the agricultural sector focuses on product traceability, issuing cultivation area codes, ensuring quality processes for export, promoting the application of information technology and digital transformation and building a management database for OCOP products.
