Diplomatic sector helps elevate Vietnam's int'l status

Vietnam’s diplomatic sector made enormous contributions to maintaining peace and stability, spurring development and raising the country’s international position in 2017.

The statement was made by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh at the Foreign Ministry’s conference to review its activities in 2017 and outline orientations and tasks for 2018.

2017 was regarded as one of the most successful years in the country's foreign relations as its relations with important and prioritised partners grown steadily based on a sustainable basis.

It is worth noting that the success of the APEC Year 2017 contributed to enhancing the role of Vietnam’s multilateral diplomacy.

In his speech, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh pointed out the fast-changing and complicated regional and global situations in 2018, stating that the most important task of the sector is to continue maintaining the peaceful and stable environment, attract more resources to serve sustainable development, safeguard the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and elevate its position to a higher level.

The additional focus will be on building a favourable environment for stronger development and deeper international integration, Minh added.
