One of top priorities of local socio-economic development is to protect environment for the sake of sustainable development. Thanks to the parallel implementation, the provincial economy has over the past 5 years developed and reached a fair growth.
Efficiency of a business leading in environmental protection
Nguyen Van Thanh Huy, head of Becamex IDC Technical Economic Department, said “right from inception of industrial parks and residential areas, Becamex IDC considers environment as one of important points to lure investors”. Accordingly, planning and construction to have an environmentally friendly infrastructure facility have been launched effectively. System of green trees, waste water treatment and so on has been invested methodically. 18 out of 22 IPs have had waste water plants with a capacity of over 67,000 cubic meters per day and night.
Industrialization and modernization must be in parallel with environmental protection is the motto of Becamex IDC.
Becamex IDC has possessed a waste water treatment system meeting advanced standards and ensuring requirements of environmental protection. Besides, Becamex IDC has invested in 13 waste water treatment stations and conducted 4 reports of assessing environmental impacts for IPs and 24 residential areas.Besides, Becamex IDC has issued standards of waste water treatment for businesses in IPs. Nutifood Vietnam Co. – a business operating in Becamex IDC’s industrial park is a typical unit in building waste water treatment system with a capacity of 300 cubic meters per day. Panko Vina, Chanh Duong Co., Sanmiler Vietnam JVC and Vina Kraft Co. have had systems of waste water treatment winning level A.
The effort has made Becamex IDC’s IPs be occupied by projects of Japan, Korea, the US, Singapore. Notably, Becamex IDC’s turnover, profit and budget payment has constantly increased. Huy added that an environmentally friendly infrastructure facility is a highlighted character in luring investors to Becamex IDC’s IPs.
Economic growth in attachment to environmental protection
To develop economy sustainably, Binh Duong has focused on selecting environmentally friendly projects. Over the past 5 years, as many as 94 projects were refused, owing to impacts on environment. Besides, 18 out of 24 IPs under operation have had systems of waste water treatment, winning a 75% rate.
However, environmental pollution in industrial production remains existent. Therefore, to minimize environmental pollution and help businesses develop economy sustainably, the province has kept boosting inspections on environment, publicizing names of businesses causing environmental pollution as well as setting out supportive policies to encourage businesses to invest in system of waste water treatment or to apply a system of environmental management in line with a standard of ISO 14001.
As for the State, the important thing is to perfect a system of State management on environment at all levels, to strengthen manpower for the State management on environmental protection for the sake of long term tasks in the coming time.
