The export price of pepper hit a record high of VND140,000 per kilo, up VND40,000 per kilo compared to the previous month, according to the Vietnam Pepper Association (VPA).

Panasonic considers Vietnam a strategic market
Panasonic planned to build a refrigerator factory near its existing facility in Hanoi . Once operational in October, 2012, the new facility will raise the group’s annual output in Vietnam to 800,000 units, doubling its current capacity. The Japanese group will also construct a new washing machine factory in the northern province of Hung Yen with a production of 800,000 units per year. The factory is scheduled to be put into operation in April, 2013. In addition, Panasonic will open a R&D centre to develop products for domestic customers. According to Panasonic, Vietnam is an attractive market for Japanese electronics and home appliances producers, as only 10-30 percent of its almost 90 million population have used refrigerators and washing machines.
