A seminar was held by the Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM) to contribute opinions to the draft Resolution on promoting international economic integration in the 2011-2015 period and vision to 2020 in Hanoi on January 11.

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) play a very important role in economy. To speed up development of SMEs, the province has over the past years applied policies for the sake of growth for SMEs. Binh Duong conducted PM’s Decision No. 236/2006/QD-TTg on developing SMEs for the 2006-2010 period. Especially, to assist SMEs in the integration period, the provincial People’s Committee on July 22, 2010 issued a plan No. 2143/KH-UBND on implementing Decree 56/2009/ND-CP. Accordingly, the plan was to ratify establishment of structure, concrete policy to hasten SMEs’ growth and to create a healthy competition.

Binh Duong Customs Bureau just held a summing up conference on its 2010 activities and set out tasks for 2011. In the past year, Binh Duong Customs completed import and export procedures for 3,008 businesses, up 22.17%, reached the total import-export turnover of $17.326bil, a rise of 26.5%, paid over VND7,464bil to the state budget, a year-on-year increase of 78.27%.

Binh Duong Water Supply Company yesterday held a ribbon cutting ceremony for Tan Hiep Water Plant in Tan Uyen district. The VND600bil plant is earmarked from the Dutch ODA fund (Euro 7.4mil) and domestic capital of VND389bil.

Sai Gon Brewery and Beverage Co.(Sabeco)’s total output of beer consumed reached a record of 1bln liters of beer in 2010, marking an important milestone on the way of becoming the country’s top beverage corporation. Meanwhile, Sabeco Mien Dong, a subsidiary of Sabeco last year also sold more than 112mln liters of various beer, a year-on-year increase of 120%.

The South Korean-invested Charm Engineering Co.Ltd., on Jan.6, inaugurated the sample houses of the Charm Plaza Song Than project in Di An district and received the registration for selling apartments in the project.

The Dung Quat Oil Refinery is a national key project that has been the largest in scale of both construction and investment capital so far, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung at a ceremony to inaugurate the factory in the central province of Quang Ngai on January 6.
