An Son commune in Thuan An town has focused on ecotourism development in association with new-style rural construction, aiming to make the restructuring of agriculture, the shift of rural economic structure, improving the income of the local people.
Lives of locals improved
An Son was known as an agricultural commune in the past. But now, the commune sees vigorous development on trade-services. The whole commune has a well-built infrastructure system with highlight being a synchronous rural traffic network.
An Son commune now has a favorable infrastructure system, promoting the local ecotourism development
In 2010, An Son was selected as a pilot commune for new-style rural construction and it was recognized as a new-style rural commune in 2014. The program has contributed to changing the local image with economic development, the spiritual and material lives of the local people improved constantly. The average income per capita of the local people in 2019 was VND55million...
Dinh Van Hau, Vice-Chairman of An Son communal People’s Committee said that in order to enhance living standards of the local people under the province’s set of criteria of the advanced new-style rural construction program, the commune has taken solutions to support the local people in economic development. The commune has created jobs for the local unemployed people and old ones, thereby contributing increasing their living standards towards sustainable poverty reduction.
Ecotourism development
Under the new-style rural construction program, An Son commune has so far developed a favorable rural traffic system. This is also one of advantageous conditions for the local trade-service and rural tourism development.
The commune now has a favorable position connecting with HCM city in tourism development along Saigon river together with orchards, which is seen as the local great potential for ecotourism development. Realizing the potential of new-style rural construction in association with ecotourism development, the commune has initially mobilized individuals to set up An Son agricultural cooperative with 11 members. Along with helping members in developing orchards, the cooperative has planned to popularize collective product trademarks under VietGap standards. It is also mobilizing members to take part in orchard tourism development while sorting out appropriate orchards to foster this field.
Mr.Hau said that over the past time, the commune implemented solutions for agricultural development towards urban models, aiming to well realize the local targets on tourism development in association with new-style rural construction. In the coming time, the commune will further bend on some major tasks, including coordinating with banks to create favorable conditions for the local households to develop their orchard tourism models, calling for enterprises to make investment in tourism; guiding the local people to set up new production organizations specialized in producing and trading the local products.
Under provincial People’s Committee’s Resolution No.63/2016/QD-UBND dated December 20, 2016 regulating preservation and development of the province’s special orchards for the 2017-2021 period, farmers in the commune have enjoyed support policies to foster their orchards. Upon this, commune-based orchards basically had bumper crops for many consecutive years, contributing to raising the local people’s income.
