Dau Tieng district possesses many natural conditions that are favorable for hi-tech agriculture and ecotourism development. So far, the district has put forward solutions to effectively tap this advantage.
Vigorous change
Dau Tieng district’s strong point is agricultural production, in which animal husbandry and aquaculture account for a great proportion in the structure of the sector. Especially, the district now has a total of 53,200 hectares of rubber trees or 43.4% of the province’s total area of rubber cultivation.
The district’s People’s Committee has implemented a plan on agriculture and rural development for the period of 2017-2020. In addition, the district has set up and realized a project on restructuring of the local agricultural sector to 2020, orientation to 2025 towards improving quality, productivity and competitiveness for sustainable development.
The district has also encouraged the restructuring of agriculture in association with changing growth models; promoted agriculture towards large-scale goods production; created favorable conditions for enterprises to get involved in agriculture…Besides, the district has sped up the shift of plant and animal structure towards the growth of added value and sustainable development.
Currently, the whole district has 580 hectares of fruits, up 202 hectares compared to 2013. Main fruit trees include mangosteen, durian, green-skin pomelo, rambutan…The district is also developing specialized areas on growing fruit trees in association with ecotourism in Thanh Tuyen commune; making an intensive farming model on citrus trees under VietGAP standards and carrying out the linkage from production to consumption in Minh Hoa and Minh Thanh communes.
Over the past time, the district also encouraged individuals, enterprises to foster agricultural production towards hi-tech urban agriculture models. The district has till now had a total of 102 hectares of hi-tech agricultural production, including 95 hectares for banana growing in Thanh An commune from a joint venture between Dau Tieng Rubber One-Member Co.Ltd. and U&I Agricultural Joint Stock Company…
Widely multiplying effective models
Thanks to the drastic leadership of the local Party Committee, People’s Council and People’s Committee, Dau Tieng district has reached strong development in the shift of plant structure with effective models. They include the orchid growing farm of Mai Quoc Thai in Minh Hoa commune, the mushroom growing farm of Minh Khai in Minh Thanh commune, the ornamental plant growing model of Vo Van Quang in Thanh Tuyen commune…with the annual income of hundreds of billions of dong…
Possibly seeing, the district’s animal husbandry sector has been strengthened towards sustainable development. The whole district is now home to 212 animal husbandry farms with more than 115,870 heads of cattle and more than VND2.59billion heads of poultry.
Implementing the district’s project on restructuring of agriculture to 2020, orientation to 2025 has helped changing farmers’ thought in production. This result was also attributed by the district’s Farmers’ association. Particularly, the association organized hundreds of training courses, seminars on sci-tech transfer in cultivation and animal husbandry, visits to effective models…, thereby helping farmers bravely apply sci-tech advancements into production for better results.
The district’s agricultural sector is getting thriving. It is hoped that the district’s effective agricultural models will continue widely being multiplied, contributing to raising farmers’ income.
