To develop Binh Duong into a centrally-controlled city by 2020, along with creating a breakthrough in targets, the province’s construction sector will further improve its effectiveness of urban management in the period of 2016 and 2020.
Positive results
Under provincial Master Urban Construction Planning to 2020 with a vision to 2030 and Project on Adjustment of Master Urban-Rural Construction Planning and Function-based Planning, Binh Duong has basically met requirements on socio-economic development with 5 central urban areas having master planning approved and 30 out of 41 wards with function-based planning. There are also 5 projects on administration center and functional area planning with detailed planning.

A glance of Binh Duong new city
Binh Duong is now home to 1 second-class urban area, 4 fourth-class urban areas, 4 fifth-class urban areas and 5 new urban areas planned in the right direction. As of late 2015, the rate of the local urbanization reached 76.9%. Most targets on urban development in the period of 2011 and 2015 were fulfilled in 2015. The province also paid attention to infrastructure investment in new urban areas belonging to newly-separated localities while attaching special importance to urban rejuvenation.
Vo Hoang Ngan, Vice-Chairman of TDM city’s People’s Committee said that the city’s urban management last year gained positive changes. In addition to elements pertaining to internal force, this result came from the timely attention and instruction of provincial People’s Committee and sectors in the province.
According to Nguyen Thanh Tai, Director of provincial Department of Construction, the province’s sector of construction over the past time reached positive results, due to having good leadership. Most plans put forward during the period were basically completed by the sector in 2015.
Well realizing major targets
The Prime Minister has just ratified the adjustment of Binh Duong’s master planning on socio-economic development till 2020 and supplement till 2025. This has created the premise for the province’s urban development orientations in the period of 2016-2020.
In a bid to develop Binh Duong into a centrally-controlled city by 2020, in the period of 2016 and 2020, the sector will carry out major targets such as further building Binh Duong into a green-clean-nice industrial urban area, one of the country’s top localities in the cause of industrialization, modernization and international integration and a political, socio-economic, cultural, national defence and security hub and an important traffic route of the Southern key economic zone and HCM city. Binh Duong will also focus on building new urban areas belonging to provincial industrial-service-urban complex in association with upgrading, rejuvenating TDM city, towns of Thuan An, Di An, Ben Cat, Tan Uyen and satellite urban areas in the northern region of the province.
In the coming time, the sector will continue paying attention to rural infrastructure construction in order to have all 48 communes meeting criteria of the new-style rural construction program in 2020; simultaneously urge localities to map out plans to upgrade their urban areas in accordance with the set roadmap, ensuring that Binh Duong will be a centrally-controlled city by 2020. Such these apart, the sector will improve its effectiveness in terms of urban development and management; regularly check urban development plans approved, thereby having suggestions for timely adjustment to ensure a civilized and green Binh Duong city based on sustainable development, facilitating locals’lives and production.
