Phu Giao is a district with agriculture accounting for 70% of the local economic structure. Over the past time, the district attached special importance to building modern agricultural models with high economic efficiency.
After three-year implementation, the “good farmer in production and business” emulation movement contributed to vigorously changing the lives of farmers in the district.

Bui Van Quen, Chairman of the district’s Farmers Association said that with the attention, support of authorities at all levels and mass organizations plus the efforts by farmers, the district’s implementation of the “good farmer in production and business” emulation movement got high efficiency, contributing to improving the lives of farmers.
For the emulation movement getting high efficiency, the district’s Farmers Association well implemented the Party and State’s guidelines, policies on agriculture, farmers and rural areas; the national target program on new rural construction; support policies on loans, agricultural materials…Particularly, the association teamed up with relevant units to consider and disburse more than VND13.83billion from provincial Support Fund for Farmers for 583 farmers; more than VND66.37billion from the Bank for Social Policies for 4,306 farmers; more than VND1.22trillion from the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development for 5,629 farmers…The association also mobilized donors and agents to support loans, nurslings, fertilizer, animal feed…with a total value of more than VND15.82billion for more than 2,070 farmers and helped 898 farmers escape from poverty; encouraged the local farmers to actively get involved in developing home based business…
Phung Van Thuc, Deputy Head of Tam Lap commune’s freshwater fish club said that over the past time, the district helped the local farmers get access to preferential loans to invest and apply sci-tech advancements in production for better results.
There were many effective models from the emulation movement over the past time. For example, Phung Van Thuc in Tam Lap was very successful with the model of breeding square-head anabases; Nguyen Ngoc Diep in Phuoc Vinh town ship with the model of growing orchids and breeding chickens; Nguyen Huu Van in Phuoc Hoa commune with the model of planting green-skin pomelos; Cao Van Doan in An Linh commune with the model of breeding crickets; Nguyen Hoang Hieu in An Long commune with the model of raising porcupines, swallows…
The above models has brought the local farmers the annual income from hundreds of millions of dong to billions of dong; created stable jobs for thousands of laborers and significantly contributed to the local economic development.
Over the past three years, the whole district had a total of 18,211 farmers winning the “good farmer” title at all levels. Among them, 148 were recognized as good farmers at central level, 1,483 at provincial level, 3,840 at district level and 12,740 communal level.
