Phu Giao district’s Farmers’ Association is upholding its potentials and developing modern and effective agricultural models, contributing to promoting the local economy. All have also contributed to realizing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction.
Upholding
the local agricultural potentials, Phu Giao district’s Farmers’ Association
always paid attention to improving the lives of the local farmers via many
practical programs over the past time, including the campaign of “Good farmers
in production and business”. After two-year implementation, the campaign has so
far upheld its efficiency to the local development on agriculture, farmers and
rural area, step by step contributing to strongly changing the lives of the
local people.

Under the campaign, provincial Farmers’ Associations at all levels over the past two years considered and disbursed more than VND906bln for more than 11,350 households to develop home based business; encouraged the local farmers to actively get involved in farm and home-based economic models…
As a result, many farmers escaped poverty and even got rich. Nguyen Van Khai, a farmer in Tam Lap commune said that thanks to the local government’s help and attention, the local farmers effectively developed production models, improving their lives in all aspects.
Over the past two years, the whole district had a total of 26,570 members registering to realize the campaign of “Good farmers in production and business” or 91% of total. There were 13,926 members winning the title of “good farmers” at all levels. Among them, 179 were recognized as good farmers at central level, 1.091 at provincial level, 2,704 at district level and 9,950 at communal level.
Many effective models were also discovered from the campaign. They included the VAC model which combines orchard development, fish breeding and animal husbandry of farmers Nguyen Van Khai, Phung Van Thuc and Pham Thi Hong Cam in Tam Lap commune; the model on planting rubber trees in combination with breeding cross-bred wild boars of farmer Pham Ngoc Diep in Phuoc Vinh township; the rubber-growing model of farmers Nguyen Van Son, Tran Van Hue and Nguyen Thi Sau in Tam Lap commune; the orchid-growing model of farmer Tran Thanh Ha; the model on agricultural services of farmer Ha Phu Thi in Tam Lap commune; the model of raising pigs in combination with producing microorganic fertilizer from pig waste of farmer Le Minh Dong in Phuoc Hoa commune…
The above models have brought the local farmers the annual income of hundreds of millions to billions of dong while creating jobs with stable income for thousands of laborers. More importantly, they greatly contributed to the local development over the past years.
Regarding achievements done, Trinh Duc Dung, Vice-Chairman of Phu Giao district’s Farmers’ Association said that thanks to the attention and help of the local authorities at al levels plus the efforts by the local farmers, the implementation of the “Good farmers in production and business” campaign reached high efficiency, contributing to improving the lives of the local farmers.
He added that along with rising up to enrich themselves, farmers in Phu Giao district actively made contributions to the local infrastructure systems. Particularly, they contributed nearly VND13bln and 3,751 working days to building and upgrading more than 105 km of rural roads; dredging more than 6km of canals and ditches; installing 35 sullage pits…All the voluntary actions aimed at creating favorable conditions for the local development.
