According to provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the whole province has so far had hundreds of stable urban agricultural facilities with the average income that is 15-20 times higher than the previous period with traditional farming ways.
There are now 78.7 hectares of urban farming land, accounting for around 80% of the province’s total farming land. The province’s farming land has till now reduced by nearly 20,000 hectares compared to 2010 and developed some hi-tech agricultural centers, namely An Thai hi-tech agricultural park with 411.75 hectares, Tien Hung hi-tech agricultural park with 89.95 hectares, the hi-tech milk cow park in Phu Giao district’s Tan Hiep and Phuoc Sang communes with 471 hectares. In the local strategy on urban agricultural development, the province has approved a Project on “Urban agricultural development in the southern region of Binh Duong for the period of 2016-2020” to foster more sustainable types and value chains based on hi-tech application. The objectives of the project are to boost agricultural restructuring towards diversifying urban agricultural models, combining traditional agricultural models with urban agricultural ones; generate safe products under VietGap standards, contributing to increasing the quality, effectiveness and safety of products.
