To invest in transportation infrastructure
With large advancement in all areas, in 2018, Tan Uyen Town was recognized as a class-3 city, one of the three central urban areas of Binh Duong province (including Thu Dau Mot City, Ben Cat Town, Tan Uyen Town). Furthermore, Tan Uyen is continuing to invest more in transportation infrastructure.
According to the Town Urban Management Unit, all roads in the town were expanded and upgraded; pavements, drainage system were renovated, contributing to improving the quality of people's lives, urban appearance. The town completed key works, such as pedestrian streets of Uyen Hung Ward, embankment along Dong Nai River, and continue to invest the remaining 3 segments from Rach Tre Bridge to Tan Uyen Town Party Committee. To create feature for riverside urban areas, the town is constructing a riverside road. The planning for inland waterway wharves was also accelerated to meet the demand for cargo transportation, reducing the pressure for road traffic. The town Party Committee directed functional agencies to conduct inspections, report on the operation, and develop plans to relocate and concentrate wharves into Thanh Phuoc Port. These units also chose construction contractors for Tan Uyen Bus Terminal project.
The town also collaborated with provincial departments to carry out several important projects in form of public-private partnership (PPP) and socialization, such as Bach Dang 2 Bridge, boulevard connecting to Thanh Phuoc Port; completed of the research project of landslides in Cu Lao Rua isle to propose remedies as well as conservation, development solutions of this national historic area.
As an industrial area with a fast pace of mechanical population growth, the town focuses on educational and medical works that meet people's learning and healthcare needs. For educational works, the local government completed and put into use schools: Tan Hiep, Phu Chanh, Khanh Binh, Nguyen Quoc Phu junior high schools, Thai Hoa B, Hoi Nghia elementary school, Thanh Hoi kindergarten; is constructing Hoa Hong kindergarten, set up investment procedures for schools: Vinh Tan junior high school, Khanh Binh elementary school, Tan Phuoc Khanh B elementary school, Thanh Phuoc kindergarten, expand Tan Phuoc Khanh high school, Thai Hoa high school... The town completed and put into use Khanh Binh General Clinic, Tan Phuoc Khanh medical center, Vinh Tan medical center, Phu Chanh medical center, Tan Vinh Hiep medical center, Tan Uyen General Hospital up to 400 beds.
To meet people's demand for living and entertainment, since 2016, the town has invested in 18 parks and gardens with a total area of 9,196m2. The town is constructing cultural and sports centers, such as Tan Uyen Town Library, Phu Chanh cultural and sports center, anti-landslide works at Du Khanh temple, Welcoming Gate of Tan Uyen Town... The branches are checking public land fund and building a system of green parks in the area. In particular, it is worth noting that some large works to meet entertainment needs such as town park (Uyen Hung ward), parks and gardens in communes, renovation of town Cultural park...
To be synchronous and sustainable
According to Doan Hong Tuoi, Chairman of the Town People's Committee, in order to develop a synchronous and sustainable Tan Uyen Town in the period 2016-2020 and the following years, the town continues to boost investment in building technical infrastructure system to meet the demands of industrial parks and complexes; stimulate strong development of commerce - services; monitor the construction of commercial housing areas, residential areas, resettlement areas in parallel with environmental protection. The town will also actively complete the 3 remaining criteria of a class-3 urban area and gradually forms a civilized Tan Uyen urban area to meet the standards of class-2 urban area before 2025. Currently, the town is gathering resources for the construction of main roads, urban public utilities, speeding up the completion of waste water treatment stations, funeral parlors, and approved works under the mid-term public investment plan.
Mr. Tuoi said that the Town's People's Committee was directing branches to complete the master adjustment plan of Tan Uyen Town by 2040. Regarding management of urban development investment, the town enhance investment attraction in building two urban development areas in Tan Hiep ward (125 ha) and Uyen Hung ward (360 ha); set up with the subdivision planning of 4 wards Hoi Nghia, Vinh Tan, Phu Chanh and Tan Vinh Hiep; review and adjust the subdivision planning of 6 wards and the new rural planning of 2 communes (Bach Dang and Thanh Hoi) in association with the town urban development orientation.
In order to upgrade Tan Uyen Town to become a city directly under the province before 2025, the Town People's Committee directed branches at all levels to make efforts to perfect low class-3 urban targets, continue to mobilize resources for infrastructure under class-2 urban criteria; in the immediate future, to complete and put into use of the town's funeral parlor, bus terminal; implement a roadmap to close and relocate cemeteries and graveyards outside the planning area in order to create land funds for public works.
With synchronous infrastructure, the economic restructure from industry - service - urban to service - industry, development of compact cities, smart cities, Tan Uyen Town is expected to make further breakthrough in investment attraction, socio-economic development.
