To ensure food safety and effectively execute the Food Safety Action Month 2025 (from April 15 to May 15) in the province, relevant agencies have intensified inspections, swiftly identifying, preventing, and rigorously addressing legal violations, thereby safeguarding consumer rights.

Industries collaborate
Recently, the specialized and interdisciplinary inspection team of Tan Uyen City, along with the city's communes and wards, has formulated and executed inspection plans for each month and quarter of the year, as well as inter-sectoral and specialized inspection plans during peak periods. As a result, food safety efforts in the city have progressively improved, and the legal efficacy of inter-sectoral and specialized inspections concerning food safety has consistently enhanced. In the first four months of 2025, the city reported no incidents of food poisoning.
Mr. Ly Ngoc Phong, Vice Chairman of the Tan Uyen City People's Committee, stated that the city oversees more than 2,300 kitchens, including those in schools, companies, hospitals, food production and business establishments, as well as catering services for events. Since the beginning of the year, the city's regulatory authorities have conducted inspections of 107 establishments, resulting in 15 failing to meet food safety standards. Additionally, communes and wards have inspected 448 establishments, with 53 found to be non-compliant with food safety regulations. The inspection teams have issued reminders and requested that non-compliant establishments promptly rectify their deficiencies; they have also mandated that facility owners dispose of unsafe food products and sign commitments to refrain from trading in unsafe items. Beyond managing specialized areas, related sectors are enhancing coordination and forming interdisciplinary inspection teams to oversee food safety efforts.
In Thu Dau Mot City, Mr. Nguyen Doan Hoang Tuan, Captain of Market Management Team No. 1, reported that during the first four months of 2025, in accordance with directives from both the Central Government and the provincial authorities aimed at enhancing food safety, Market Management Team No. 1 has undertaken various initiatives. These include the development and implementation of a plan to inspect compliance with legal regulations governing food production and trading establishments within its jurisdiction; intensifying monitoring of food contamination and market oversight; and collaborating with relevant sectors in Thu Dau Mot City to assess food safety in markets. Through these inspections and supervisory efforts, it was observed that some violations of legal regulations persist, particularly the use of prohibited substances and additives, predominantly among food street vendors, which poses a risk to consumer health.

Enhance propaganda and oversight
According to the evaluation conducted by the Provincial Steering Committee (Steering Committee 389) regarding smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods, the commodity market in the province during the initial months of 2025 has remained stable and normal. Production and business activities have not experienced any significant or notable incidents. However, issues related to the trading and transportation of prohibited items, smuggled goods, and substandard food products persist, particularly concerning widely consumed goods such as cosmetics, prepackaged processed foods, and functional foods. The relevant authorities at the provincial, district, and commune levels have concentrated their efforts on inspecting and addressing numerous violations.
The Provincial Steering Committee 389 stated that while efforts to combat smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods have been intensified, numerous difficulties and challenges persist, particularly concerning smuggling, the misrepresentation of goods' origins, and violations of intellectual property rights online. Notably, there has been a recent increase in breaches of food safety regulations. The Provincial Steering Committee 389 urged its members and relevant authorities to prioritize the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods as a significant and ongoing political responsibility.
A representative from the Market Management Department of Binh Duong province stated that the unit is currently focused on reviewing and inspecting compliance with food safety laws and regulations for food production and trading establishments, in accordance with the established periodic plan. The Department is actively promoting the implementation of the food safety initiative set for 2025, with particular emphasis on inspecting food and pharmaceutical production and trading establishments. The Department consistently endeavors to ensure food safety and safeguard public health. Within its jurisdiction, the Department closely monitors and mandates that production and trading establishments adhere strictly to regulations regarding food hygiene and safety, while also enhancing public awareness to encourage consumers to select safe food options.
The Provincial Steering Committee 389 has urged members of the Steering Committee and relevant agencies to enhance coordination, connectivity, and information sharing among units and functional forces in executing public duties, thereby improving the effectiveness of prevention, suppression, and combat against smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods. |
