According to the Region XVI Customs Branch, export activities are expected to experience significant advantages and growth this year. This optimism is due to a decrease in global inflation and a recovery in international market demand following recent interest rate cuts by central banks. However, the global and regional situations remain complicated and unpredictable. On April 3, 2025, US President Donald Trump announced the imposition of reciprocal import tariffs affecting more than 180 trading partners, with tax rates ranging from 10% to 50%. Vietnam is subject to one of the highest tax rates, set at 46%.
However, import-export activities at Region XVI Customs Branch still maintained a high growth rate compared to the same period in 2024. Namely, from the beginning of the year to April 15, 2025, import-export turnover reached more than 25.2 billion USD, an increase of 10.36% over the same period in 2024; of which export turnover reached nearly 14.4 billion USD, import turnover reached over 10.8 billion USD. Since the beginning of the year, the branch has completed customs procedures for 7,956 enterprises, an increase of 6.43%, with 805,404 declarations, an increase of 14.39% over the same period in 2024. The main export items are machinery and equipment, electronic components, garment materials, chemicals, wood products, garment products, iron and steel, etc.
