Enterprises affected by Covid-19 offered electricity bill discounts

On August 28, the government issued Resolution No. 97/NQ-CP agreeing on a plan to support electricity bill reduction and electricity price reduction for electricity users affected by the Covid-19 epidemic.

Accordingly, three groups of businesses are supported to reduce electricity prices and electricity bills include enterprises processing and preserving seafood and aquatic products, fruits and vegetable and production with export turnover of over USD 1 billion in 2020. Businesses will receive a 10% discount on electricity bills before VAT in the billing periods of September, October and November 2021.

The conditions for these enterprises to receive discounts on electricity bills are that they are facing many difficulties due to having factories or production facilities located in provinces and cities with social distancing according to Directive 16 of the Prime Minister. Businesses also need to meet the condition that they are buying electricity directly from the Electricity Corporations, the Electricity Company of the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) or other electricity retailers. The reduced list is confirmed by the People's Committees of the provinces and centrally-run cities on the basis of business registration and actual production of the enterprises.
