Over the past years, the province’s market stabilization program contributed to ensuring the quality of commodities, food safety with reasonable prices and won customers’ great faith. It also contributed to successfully realizing the local targets on socio-economic development.
Ample supply of commodities
The 2017 provincial market stabilization program focuses on supplying locals with essential commodities like processed and fresh foods. Participating enterprises have also planned to stockpile goods for the program while actively teaming up with providers to increase the amount of essential commodities by two or four times compared to normal days to be proactive to curb market prices on the 2017 Tet (Lunar New Year) festival.

Vu Thanh Truc, Deputy Director of Co.opmart Binh Duong supermarket said that the supermarket has early prepared essential commodities for the program with a focus on domestic ones. The supermarket’s total amount of commodities stockpiled for three months before, during and after Tet is more than 110,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 15%, in which there is a 5%-30% increase in the amount of price-stabilized commodities. It is expected to organize at least 160 mobile goods-selling trips in rural areas and at industrial parks in the province on the occasion of the 2017 Tet festival.
Whilst, Bo Quoc Trung, from Citimart Binh Duong supermarket said that knowing about the significance of the program, the supermarket has always mapped out plans stockpiling commodities many months ahead of Tet. This has helped it ensure ample supply of commodities at locals’ demand for shopping on Tet.
Since early this year, the prices of essential commodities in the province have remained stable, contributing to curbing inflation and well serving locals’ demand for shopping. There has also been a diversification in terms of price-stabilized commodities, basically meeting locals’ demand for shopping.
No sudden price increase
Ho Van Binh, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Industry and Trade (DoIT) said that the province’s market stabilization program has won faith of customers, especially low-income earners as it has met their necessary demand in life. Upholding achievements done and boosting the effectiveness of the program, provincial DoIT will further mobilize more enterprises to take part in the program via mobile goods-selling trips, joyful market-days and programs of bringing Vietnamese goods to rural areas…
Provincial DoIT will also coordinate with relevant sectors, departments, the People’s Committees at all levels and participating enterprises to carry out inspection over the implementation of market stabilization plans for essential commodities in 2017 in order to prevent virtual scarcity of commodities as well as sudden price increase. On the other hand, provincial DoIT will instruct its Trade Promotion Center to effectively organize market-days of bringing Vietnamese goods to rural areas.
In the coming time, provincial DoIT will require participating enterprises to concentratively organize mobile goods-selling points with great concern on quality towards developing them into regular ones; boost propaganda activities on goods-selling programs with stabilized prices via the mass media among locals…
It is known that the 2017 provincial market stabilization program has absorbed 12 participating enterprises with a total value of essential commodities amounting to more than VND1.34trillion, including VND610.8billion (except petrol and medicine) for the period before, during and after Tet.
